Samsung started shipping out its latest Galaxy S10 phones on March 8 to over 70 countries. Initial reports of sales showed a strong start in the UK and USA as well as in other territories.

Samsung UK revealed that the Galaxy S10 lineup has generated more preorder sales than any Samsung smartphone sold in the United Kingdom. GSMArena reported that the U.S. market is also seeing record preorder sales for the new phones.

Setting Record Sales

In the UK, the company revealed that the Galaxy S10 Plus has accounted for 57 percent of sales, with the Prism Black as the preferred handset of consumers, taking 47 percent of total S10 lineup sales.

"It's encouraging to see such a positive response to our new product lineup, across the ecosystem and including the new Galaxy Buds and Galaxy Watch Active, meaning that we are offering a greater range of choice than ever," Samsung's Corporate VP in the UK and Ireland Conor Pierce said in a statement.

It is also reportedly the same for the U.S. market although no detailed figures are available as of the moment.

In China, the S10 series is also doing well in terms of early sales. Reports stated that the total number of S10 series preorder surpassed the total sales of the S9 when it was released in January 2018.

First-hour sales of the S10 series is said to be 2.38 times more than the first-hour sales of its predecessor S9 series. One store reported that the S10 was sold out in just 10 minutes when it went on sale with a record volume sale that is 365 percent more than that of the S9.

The company announced that in its home market in South Korea, it moved 20 percent more units of the S10 compared to the S9 on the first day of selling.

5G Model Next To Launch

There are four models in the S10 family — the S10, S10 Plus, S10E, and an upcoming 5G version. An early review of the S10 published by CNN the S10 model as the "nearly perfect phone."

By late March, the 5G version of the S10 will launch in South Korea as local telcos start to offer the next-generation network for customers starting this month. The foldable Galaxy Fold with 5G connectivity will see its release in May.

The Galaxy S10 has a price tag of $899.99, while the S10 Plus retails at $999.99. The S10E is selling for $749.99.

The S10 series marks the first decade of Samsung's Galaxy phones. The models were launched during the company's Unpacked Event in San Francisco last Feb. 21.
