In a bid to try out new features that it can implement on its existing public network, Twitter is pushing out its new prototype app dubbed Twttr to a few beta testers.

Twitter announced the news through a tweet on March 11.

The Twttr app serves as the firm's experimental testing space. It is where Twitter develops new features, tests out new ideas, and solicits feedback from its selected adopters. These changes will soon be rolled out to the main Twitter app down the road.

Twitter will notify accepted testers through email "over the next few days." However, those who have not been selected are going to be added to the waitlist.

Those who are going to receive an email from Twitter should click a link to confirm their participation. Next, they also have to wait for another email invite that comes from Apple's TestFlight.

Amped-Up Designs For Twitter Conversations

Among the features that Twttr app testers can experience are new designs for conversations.

For example, the firm is making it easier for users to follow replies. The Twttr app features rounded chat-like shape and indented conversations. On top of that, replies are color-coded in an aim to provide improved visual cues to users. These features are beneficial if they are following a lengthy thread.

That's not all, testers will also observe that sharing options and engagements are hidden from their view.

How To Apply For Twitter's Prototype Program

Those who wish to be one of the first people to test out Twttr should know that applications started around late February and that they can still sign up for the Prototype Program.

Note, however, that the program is only aimed at iOS users and that only a few Japanese and English speakers are selected to try the experimental beta testing app at the moment.

Earlier this year, Twitter also tried out a new feature dubbed "Original Tweeter," allowing users to easily identify the original poster of a tweet. This is by including an easy-to-spot label along the usual blue checkmark badge.
