Microsoft confirms that its latest Widows 10 update KB4482887 (OS Build 17763.348) causes certain computers to experience graphics and mouse performance problems when running certain games. The company says that while it is currently working on a fix, users may just uninstall the update that is causing the glitches.

Released on March 1, update KB4482887 was aimed at fixing the Action Center bug where it suddenly appears on the wrong side of the screen before appearing on the correct side. The update would also enable "Retpoline" for Windows on selected devices, thus improving the Spectre variant 2 mitigations.

The new update also brings a bunch of minor fixes and enhancements in performance, stability, and compatibility.

Gaming Issues

However, just a few days after the update rolled out, a number of Windows users complained about experiencing graphics problems and mouse performance issues when they are playing certain games, most especially Destiny 2.

They reported getting various performance problems such as PC crashes and unusual spikes in CPU usage, as well as mouse input lag, which severely affects their gaming experience. Players of other games such as Apex Legends, Call of Duty 4, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, and Sea of Thieves also report similar issues.

According to reports, some users tried to reinstall their GPU drivers until users finally made the connection between the performance issues and the recent Windows 10 update. A few Reddit users also noticed that the problem mostly affects computers powered by Nvidia's GeForce RTX series graphics cards.

Temporary Fix

In addition to the gaming problems, Microsoft also reported issues when it comes to Internet Explorer 11 authentication. The company promises that it is already working on a solution, but it suggests Windows 10 users who experience the mentioned issues to uninstall the update for now.

"Microsoft is working on a resolution and will provide an update in an upcoming release. As a short-term resolution, users can uninstall KB4482887 to regain performance," the company said in the Windows update support page.

Affected Windows users may also turn off automatic downloading and installation of new updates until Microsoft rolls out the solution.
