The Pirate Bay has welcomed the new year with a mysterious update on its site. It bears a countdown at the upper portion, which seems to be set to Feb. 1.

The site also shows a slogan or caption that says "WeAreTPB."

On Dec. 9, the site reportedly went down after the Pirate Bay's data center in Sweden was raided. The center, which is located at a mountain complex in Nacka, is purported to be nuclear proof. After the site disappeared online, several users wondered if it would reappear.

According to Torrent Freak, it will only be a matter of time for the users to see the Pirate Bay up and running again on its previous addresses.

If this statement is true (the countdown suggests a Feb. 1 deadline), then the date may signify just when the Pirate Bay is making a comeback.

Prior to the countdown, the official "piratebay.se" domain went online on Dec. 22. The page also showed a counter, which tracked the length of time since the site had been offline.

"If it actually does manage to go back up, it's going to be a massive blow to copyright enforcement groups," said Reddit user Jefferson. "It's going to make them very difficult to take them seriously even when they make legally valid complaints."

Apart from the counter and caption, another hint that the site is preparing for a return is the address on the page that reads "allishere.js."

While it may seem unclear (at first glance) what it actually means, some users have said that it could refer to the page's administrators who would like to inform everyone that the page has prepared backups for the posted torrents on the site. If one would read it again, the address seems to also say "all is here."

For the record, the domain has been updated several times since it reappeared online.

Users will also find a magnet link that they can use to access a 1080p copy of the controversial film The Interview by Sony Pictures. There were also a few days when the waving pirate flag of the site was overlaid with an image of Kim Jong Un in a cartoon format.

As the countdown to Feb. 1 gets closer, users can expect more news, announcements and updates. The Pirate Bay has even hinted that when do they relaunch their site, it will definitely be with a bang.
