Seemingly out of the blue, a new Pokémon game was just released on Android, called Pokémon Rumble Rush.

For those who can remember, The Pokémon Company announced back in 2017 a game called Pokéland. Slated for iOS and Android, the title was to feature pocket monsters battling it out on various in-game islands. However, there's been no word about the game ever since its initial announcement. Until now, of course. That game is now called Rumble Rush, or Pokémon Scramble SP in its home country of Japan.

Although the official Japanese site notes the game is "coming soon," Vooks reports that it has already been released on Android in Australia. Why it launched first in the land down under isn't certain, but in any case it's now live from the country's Play Store.

Pokémon Rumble Rush Gameplay

As noted in its description, users control Pokémon with one hand and must clear stages by controlling the creatures as they move forward. If they see enemies, they can attack just by tapping the screen. Throughout, they'll encounter "unfamiliar and stronger Pokémon on new islands." The game encourages players to journey through various locales and collect more and more pocket monsters.

When stages are cleared, sometimes the game grants players special ores. These can be refined to get power gears that players can use to make Pokémon stronger. Players may also gain rewards occasionally by working their way through the Super Boss Rush, each of which will require different types of strong Pokémon to bear.

"Harness the power of the Pokémon you've collected from various islands and seas to defeat the powerful Super Bosses," says the description.

By the looks of things, Rumble Rush closely resembles Pokémon Rumble, which originally launched as a downloadable title for the Nintendo Wii. The game clearly did well because sequels were then released later thereafter for the 3DS and even the Wii U.

Another 'Pokémon' Game Still Coming Our Way

It's not clear what business model Rumble Rush might employ, although it's safe to expect that there'll be in-game purchases offered in this title. The game joins Pokémon GO and Magikarp Jump as official releases for mobile. Recently, DeNA, the developer behind Super Mario Run, Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp, and the upcoming Mario Kart Tour, announced that it was developing a new Pokémon game for mobile as well, to be released this financial year.
