AT&T is adding a new perk for subscribers of its top-tier unlimited plan, Unlimited & More Premium. Now, those users can enjoy listening to their playlists with a free Spotify Premium add on, which comes at no additional charge.

The offer starts Aug. 6, and subscribers can choose it as one of two free add-ons offered by AT&T, and it will remain free as long as the user is subscribed.

AT&T Now Offers Spotify Premium

Spotify Premium is the latest to join AT&T's roster of perks its Unlimited & More subscribers are eligible for. Other options include HBO, Cinemax, Showtime, Starz, VRV, and Pandora. Subscribers to AT&T's other plans, such as Unlimited, will also get free Spotify Premium on top of their subscription. There is, as always, an important caveat. For them, the perk will only be limited to six months, after which they'll have to pay the regular price of a Spotify subscription.

What About Existing Subscribers?

Existing Spotify Premium subscribers, on the other hand, can keep their account but get the service for free by signing up on all of the proper places on AT&T's site. Users will be able to keep all their pre-made playlists, as AT&T will allow them to merge their accounts.

As The Verge notes, this new gimmick seems to be a response to Verizon, as Big Red offers either six months or an entirely free Apple Music subscription to its subscribers, depending on which plan they have. Both services cost $9.99 a month, but new users are eligible for free trials ranging from one to three months in length.

Spotify has over 100 million Premium subscribers, making it the most popular music streaming service in the world right now, and it's still growing. In the last three months, the company added 8 million paying customers. To try and grow its user base further, Spotify is amping up the ante when it comes to podcasts on its platform, and it also recently added CarPlay support. Teaming up with AT&T could give it the boost it needs — the carrier boasts 77 million wireless subscribers of its own.

Will you be subscribing to AT&T's top-tier Unlimited & More plan now that it's got Spotify Premium for free? Or is Verizon's Apple Music offer far more attractive? As always, if you have anything to share, feel free to sound them off in the comments section below!
