Apple is issuing a warning for iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad users about a security issue in iOS 13 and iPadOS.

The Cupertino brand rolled out iOS 13 on Sept. 19 and iOS 13.1 and iPadOS on Sept. 24. While the new software versions bring a lot of new features, they've also been found to have some bugs, such as making the popular mobile games Fortnite and PUBG Mobile unplayable on the iPhone.

iOS 13, iPadOS Security Flaw

In a support page, Apple says that it has found a bug in iOS 13 and iPadOS that can let third-party keyboards gain full access permissions even if the user doesn't give them approval.

The company explains that third-party keyboards can run standalone or with "full access" to get additional features via network access. It says that third-party keyboards that don't use "full access" aren't affected by the issue, as well as Apple's built-in keyboards.

Third-Party Keyboards

Before iOS 13, iPhones and iPod touches never exactly had a feature-packed keyboard. As a result, many users have turned to third-party options, such as Google's Gboard or SwiftKey.

The keyboard bug in iOS 13 and iPadOS is expected to be fixed in an update in the near future. However, until then, it's recommended to uninstall dubious apps, just to be on the safe side. To check for any installed third-party keyboard, go to Settings > General > Keyboard > Keyboards.

iOS 13's Big Features

Issues and bugs aside, iOS 13 has plenty to offer that'll come in handy for any iPhone user. Case in point, there's the new Low Data mode and Optimized Battery Charging, which will help users prolong their devices' overall battery life.

That's just the tip of the iceberg too. iOS 13 users also get the new Dark Mode and QuickPath, which could be a good reason to just stick with Apple's built-in keyboard now. iPhone users also won't have to deal with robocalls anymore with the Silence Unknown Callers feature.
