OnePlus 7T Pro
(Photo : OnePlus) The OnePlus 7T Pro isn't landing on U.S. shores, but does that even matter when the OnePlus 7 Pro is around?

The OnePlus 7T Pro is now official, and it's arguably the best smartphone the company has ever made so far — on paper, at least.

Thing is, the handset isn't making its way to the United States, but with the OnePlus 7 Pro around, does that even matter?

OnePlus 7T Pro vs. OnePlus 7 Pro

As is usually the case, OnePlus' T upgrade isn't that substantial, but the improvements are still a welcome addition.

That said, the OnePlus 7T Pro is mainly building on its predecessor with its newer Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 Plus chip, which is touted to offer a 15 percent increase in graphical performance. It runs on Android 10 with OxygenOS 10.0 on top out of the box, rather than Android 9 Pie. It has a slightly larger 4,085 mAh battery than the OnePlus 7 Pro's 4,000 mAh battery, and it's touted to charge 23 percent faster via its new Warp Charge 30T as well.

The OnePlus 7T Pro comes with 8 or 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage, though the 12 GB RAM variant is only for the McLaren Edition, which sports a black and orange color theme. That means there's no version with 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage.

That's pretty much where the spec differences end. Across the board, the OnePlus 7T Pro and OnePlus 7 Pro are similar at this point. The two even look the same.

Just to recap, they both have the same Fluid AMOLED display with a 3,120 x 1,440 resolution, refresh rate of 90 Hz, and HDR10+ support. The camera configurations are the same as well, including the motorized pop-up selfie snapper. One new thing here, though, is the new macro mode introduced on the OnePlus 7T.

Conclusion

Now the question is, are U.S. consumers missing out when the OnePlus 7 Pro is readily available? To keep things short, not really. When upgrading from the OnePlus 7 Pro to the OnePlus 7T Pro, a slight bump in the processor and battery isn't exactly worthwhile, but for new buyers, the latter would've been nice to have. Still, the T variant's lack of availability in the United States isn't something to cry over, unless the extra 85 mAh battery capacity, Snapdragon 855 Plus, and macro mode really matter.

The OnePlus 7T Pro is priced at £699 and has an Oct. 17 release date, while the McLaren Edition is at £799 and is expected to hit the shelves on Nov. 5. Take note that the pricing here is in pounds because the OnePlus 7T Pro launch event took place in London.
