Obsidian Entertainment has launched the first-ever patch for The Outer Worlds, which is now live--and it has fixed one of the major complaints of players: the small font size.

According to PCInvasion, Obsidian confirmed that the update went live on Tuesday morning, Nov. 19, and should be available for download.

No More Squinting

For those who are yet to open the game, Patch 1.1.1.0 will automatically be downloaded once you launch The Outer Worlds, and the changes should be noticeable--you won't have to squint your eyes or get closer to the screen to read the texts.

The texts should be bigger and much easier to read now.

Everything from the conversations, bark subtitles, cinematic subtitles, and the terminal texts should now have a bigger font, according to the patch notes published by the developers.

Players can easily shift to bigger text through the Settings menu.

Although The Outer Worlds received great reviews from critics and regular gamers alike, one of the chief complaints since day one of its release was the small font size, which made it hard to read texts while playing the game.

Fixing More Issues

However, the update also took care of a few other issues, including fixing the glitch that made the game crash when players are in Tartarus, making it almost impossible for them to complete the "Radio Free Monarch" quest.

Additionally, the Prismatic Hammer should have more balance to it now, and players don't need a level multiplier as an exponent when using it, plus it also packs more damage now than before.

Obsidian has also resolved the issue with the muffled sound effects that happen when playing The Outer Worlds on PlayStation 4, along with a problem with the modes other than Supernova wherein the companions die, which cause a companion quest failure.

GamesRadar has also noted (and tested) that the patch has now disabled the offensive name filter, that censors a lot of questionable names and terms, including religious and LGBTQ+ terms.

So far, the disabled censor seems to work properly, and players can name their captain anything they can possibly think of.

A Better Gameplay Experience

According to the developers, they will continue reviewing the feedback they get from players, and will work on patches and updates to make the "gaming experience the best it can possibly be."

That said, we can expect more updates from Obsidian regarding bugs and problems that players may encounter while playing The Outer Worlds, and that the developers are also keen on accepting possible suggestions and reports.
