Ryan Reynolds has recently acquired part-ownership of Mint Mobile, the company announced on their website, Mint Mobile is a wireless carrier known for offering compelling mobile plans for a fraction of the cost.

Although the terms of the agreement were not fully disclosed, the company announced that Reynolds "will help with Mint's communications and marketing efforts as well as strategic decision-making." He will also work as a pitchman for the company. In fact, Reynolds will be advertising Mint Mobile plans during the Super Bowl.

The actor himself admitted that the move is a "bit unconventional," as "celebrities generally invest in high-end products like skincare brands or delicious gin companies."

However, with the increasing cost of wireless mobile plans, Reynolds believes that Mint Mobile can help consumers get access to cheaper options. His motivation for the move is to promote "a more practical approach to the most essential technology," he stated in a press release.

The current CEO of Mint Mobile, David Glickman, expressed enthusiasm with the development, stating that "It is fitting that the most disruptive wireless company is now owned by the most innovative marketer on the planet."

The said ownership will have a substantial positive impact on a company that is trying to make itself known in a competitive market.

Mint Mobile

Aside from the four leading players in the mobile network industry- Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile, and Sprint, many mobile virtual network operators [MVNO] like Mint Mobile, Google Fi, and Ting exist as challengers.

Mint Mobile, which was established in 2016, has its network built atop T-Mobile. Therefore, areas with T-Mobile coverage will also have coverage for Mint Mobile.

Mint's service plans include unlimited talk and text, 4G LTE high-speed data, nationwide coverage, and a free sim card.

Their advanced 4G LTE high-speed network allows for talk, text, and data plans across the country for a smaller price. In their 3-month plans, users can either have 3, 8, or 12 gigabytes of monthly data, which costs $15, $20 and $25, respectively. However, the company is offering discounts for the plans in celebration for Black Friday.

On top of the budget-friendly offers, their billing procedure is also convenient. Their service plans come in three-, six-, and twelve-month allotments, and users are billed after the months are over. Annual payments are much more convenient for budgeting than paying monthly for the service plans.

With their Bring Your Own Phone (BYOP) program in place, users can register any unlocked phone that is capable of connecting to a GSM network. Mint Mobile also sells a wide range of Android phones and iPhones.

One of the negative consequences of being an MVNO is that when users go to large events like concerts, the T-mobile network becomes congested, and they are the first ones to lose coverage.

Multiple Business Ventures

Before "cornering the budget-friendly wireless sector," Reynolds also got into the alcohol business. He is the current face of the Oregon-based Aviation gin and is involved with the brand's creative process, marketing, and strategy.

His pitch video for Aviation has been a hit. Undoubtedly, similar content will help Mint Mobile.
