The HTC Vive Starter Edition is possibly the best virtual reality experience money can buy. It's the best of the best but can come at a relatively steep price. At $799 on Amazon, it is also at one of the best prices you can find it right now. The starter kit comes with the latest Vive Pro Headset, Base Station 1.0, Controller 1.0, and a Link Box for Vive Pro. The Vive Pro Headset is the cutting edge of PC gaming virtual reality, with dual OLED at 2,880 x 1, 600 resolution, with a crazy sharp 615 PPI. The starter kit comes with the older Base Station 1.0 and Controller 1.0, which is more compatible with third-party Vive peripherals.

The HTC VIVE Pro Virtual Reality System is also available at a $1,099 and comes with the newer Base Station 2.0 and Controller (2018) editions. The newer Base Station 2.0 supports up to four base stations allowing for more precise tracking as well as support for larger rooms.

The Oculus Rift S is at an astonishingly low $349 for Black Friday, but even at $400, it's the economical way of getting into PC VR. The Oculus Rift S, successor to the older Oculus Rift, is notable for its "Insight" or inside-out tracking. It's much more portable with its ability to track itself with the five cameras built into the system compared to the Vive, which requires multiple external cameras. The Rift S display is still sharp at 1,280 x 1,440 per lens, but it runs at a lower 80 Hz refresh rate. Lastly, the headset also has near-ear speakers unline the HTC Vive or even the older Oculus Rift.

The Oculus Rift S bundle ships with the Rift S headset and the updated Touch Controllers at $350. It offers a more budget-friendly experience compared to the more expensive Vive. Oculus also offers the Oculus Quest at $399 for a true wireless all-in-one VR experience, without the need for an external device, whether PC or PS4.
