Introducing the Vampire: The Masquerade- Coteries of New York
Draw Distance, a Polish video game developer, and publisher, recently released its new trailer of Vampire: The Masquerade: Coteries of New York. The game will focus on the player being a vampire and how he will use vampiric powers to persuade and at the same time avoid people into revealing his real identity.
Though the structure of the game seemed to be a simple vampire vs nature or vampire vs human storyline, Draw Distance said that the Cotories of New York will give more narrative experience for its gamers since the setup of the game is a tabletop role-playing game. This means that players have the freedom to choose the ending of their games based on their choices of what to say, where to go, and what to do in a specific scenario.
What to Expect on the New Vampire: The Masquerade - Coteries Of New York
Krzysztof Zięba, writer and designer of the game, shared that the main inspiration of this video game relied on White Wolf's Publishing's tabletop RPG with the same title. On which they also took snippets from the novel New York by Night.
What will happen in the game?
Since there's already a bit of a high volume of vampire-inspired video games and stories all over the world, one thing that can only differentiate them from each other is their storyline. In Vampire: The Masquerade - Coteries Of New York, players, can deeply indulge in being a vampire with their innate or trained set of skills to fight against the real enemies of the story.
As based on the trailer, the game is set within the World of Darkness that happened in New York City, on which two of the most powerful vampire clans were reigning to gain and use power against each other. The opposing factions are Camarilla, the traditionalists, and the Anarchs, the rebellious vampires.
Players will be immersed with four important NPCs like Tamika, the Gangrel, Agathon the Tremere, D'angelo the Nosferatu, and Hope the Malkavian. As said, there are two vampire factions in the game, playing characters will be instantly put in the family of Camarillas on which the game will then choose who will be their main character based on the player's decisions and choices. Characters like the passionate man from clan Brujah, an artistic person from clan Toreador, and a controlling businesswoman from clan Ventrue-- will be the gamer's options.
Once you've finally chosen your character, the game will then give a set of tasks and challenges to let players build different abilities and train themselves to various vampiric powers or hiding their addiction to human blood. Once these are completed, you can now build your coterie-- a group with similar interests-- and choose the side on what you think is more powerful out of the two vampire clans.
When will it be Released?
On Dec. 11, the vampire-inspired video game can be played through PC, MacOS, and Linux. However, for Playstation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch users, the game will not be released until 2020.
