MacBooks are great laptops for power users, content creators, and students, but many people find their cost inhibitive. While Apple has been making great strides in making the entry-level MacBooks cheaper while retaining the same functionality, they tend to come with a few compromises.

Today Amazon has the different MacBooks on sale, including one of the latest and greatest Intel i9-powered MacBook Pro 2019. The 2019 MacBook Pro isn't only packed with one of the most powerful Intel laptop processors, and it's also packing copious amounts of ram and SSD space. Other, slightly older models are also at their lowest prices ever - almost unbelievably low - and here's why you should consider getting them instead despite their age.

The Apple MacBook Pro 2019 is one of the most recently released MacBooks to date. It sports a 15.4-inch Retina IPS display with a 2880 x 1880 resolution at 220 PPI. That's a 16:10 display for a little bit more vertical real estate. Apple Macbook Pro 2019 comes with the eight-core Intel Core i9-9980HK, which is by far one of the fastest mobile processors on the market. It has copious amounts of storage with 16 gigabytes of DDR4 memory and a 512 GB SSD. Of course, it also has a dedicated Radeon Pro 560X with 4GB of GDDR5 for intensive tasks like video editing and gaming, while the integrated UHD 630 can be used for lighter tasks to save battery.

The 13-inch model is also available, sporting a 13-inch Retina IPS display instead. It has a smaller display with 2560 x 1600 resolution making it a little bit sharper at 226 PPI. It has the quad-core Intel Core i5-8279U with a more powerful Intel Iris Plus Graphics 655 but no dedicated graphics card. It's also a whole 1 lb lighter at just 3 lbs. while promising 10 hours of battery life.

Students or even professionals may want to consider the cheaper MacBook Air instead of the Pro. The MacBook Air 2019 sports a dual-core Intel Core i5-8210Y, which is plenty powerful for light to moderate use. It uses the same beautiful 2560 x 1600 Retina IPS Display at 227 PPI, also uses 8 GB of DDR4 ram, and an SSD as well, albeit only 256 GB on the Air. It's lighter at just 2.75 lbs while having two more hours of battery life, for a total of 12 hours. For all light to moderate use, the MacBook Air is equal to or even better than the MacBook Pro 13-inch model.

Apple MacBook Air 2017 (13-inch, 8GB RAM, 128GB SSD Storage) - $249 Off

Despite its age, the MacBook Air 2017is still a great deal for a MacBook. It's an entry-level MacBook with a 1440 x 900 display and a dual-core Intel Core i5-5350u. It has 8 GB of DDR3L ram and a 128 GB SSD. It won't top any benchmarks, and its lack of modern connectors such as USB-C or Thunderbolt 3 is pretty jarring, but it has full-sized USB 3.0 ports for those that don't want to lug around extra dongles. It also has a well-loved MagSafe connector that is sorely missing from modern MacBooks. The MagSafe connector safely disconnects when pulled accidentally by pets or children and doesn't risk damage, unlike modern connectors. Despite its age, one can make a case as to why the 2017 model is the best deal, especially at this price.
