Earlier today, Bungie finally released Destiny 2 Hotfix 2.7.0.2 that was due since Tuesday, Jan. 13. The patch finally fixes the annoying bug that prevents players from interacting with the EDZ Obelisk.

While Bungie took note of the issue way back on December 24, 2019, and recommended players to repeatedly fast travel to "The Gulch" until the Obelisk worked, the long-awaited patch finally fixed the issue. But Hotfix 2.7.0.2 also brings bad news as fan-favorite weapon Wish-Ender gets gutted.

Hotfix 2.7.0.2 Overview

Combat systems are being fixed, a.k.a. 'gutted,' as Bungie fixed the "issue" in which Wish-Ender's Broadhead perk dealt more damage than intended. Throughout Destiny 2's Season of Dawn, the Exotic Bow Wish-Ender and it's Broadhead perk dealt large amounts of damage, making it a fan favorite. While it was originally supposed to deliver entry and exit damage, a bug caused the bow to apply exit damage multiple times, increasing its damage in PVE by a significant amount. The damage increase made the bow the go-to weapon for PVE, especially against Primevals when playing Gambit.

The hotfix will also be fixing the bug that caused Heavy Ammo to be gained from Special Ammo boxes when equipping both the Fusion Rifle Scavenger mod and a Linear Fusion Scavenger mod. While Telesto will no longer be generating extra Special Ammo when used with the Heavy Handed Obelisk mod.

Unfortunately for players, Bungie also fixed the bug that could cause the Sundial reward currency to be issued to players twice. Eververse changes include disabling the Eververse waypoint notification, as well as the bug that marked the Season 9 Seasonal Starter Bundle as owned for players who bought the Season 8 Seasonal Start bundle.

Lastly, the Gunsmith weekly destination bounty will be re-enabled as they fixed the bug that caused it to rotate daily instead of weekly. Crucible daily bounties will now be rotating daily.

Exotic Weapon Graveyard

Bungie is known for making many surprising patches and releases. And some of them even baffled or enraged their own players such as the very recent Iron Banner Main quest. Because Iron Banner's main quest was required using Rocket Launcher's final blows, players ended up camping the Heavy Ammo box to get ammo for their Rocket Launchers.

Today's patch ended up fixing some of the bugs that benefitted the players, notably the Fusion Rifle Scavenger mod and a Linear Fusion Scavenger mod that spawned Heavy Ammo boxes and of course Wish-Ender.

Wish-Ender joins the Exotic Weapon Graveyard or the list of fan-favorite exotic weapons that Bungie has killed because of the player-beneficial bugs that made them extra powerful. Wish-Ender joins the ranks of Winters Guile Exotic Gauntlets, the Warlock-exclusive item that has a unique perk called the Warlord's Sigil that increases a player's melee damage with consequent melee kills. The bug prevented the perk from resetting, allowing the perk to stack consecutively and keep increasing melee damage.

Another member of the graveyard is the Exotic Fusion Rifle Jotunn, whose damage number was literally tied to the FPS the player gets. Meaning PC players who had extremely powerful rigs received huge amounts of damage, while console players who were locked to 30 FPS never experienced the bug.

Bungie has always been strangely kill-joy and quick to fix any player-beneficial PVE bugs but slow to fix other annoying or game-breaking bugs that didn't benefit players. It's no surprise that community manager u/dmg04 received backlash from Reddit after announcing the nerf on Wish-Ender.
