What Netflix Series Is In Question
The Korean series, My Secret, Terrius, is now trending in the United Kingdom, which earns itself the number five spot in the most-watched section. This is all thanks to the genuine coincidence of one of its episodes talking about a disease saying that it's a flu-like coronavirus with an incubation period of up to 14 days that attacks the lungs and has no vaccine.
Thankfully the mortality rate of the real coronavirus is very much less low than what the fictional show has said, which is a terrifying 90%.
The show jumped to the fifth spot on Friday morning, even topping series heavyweights such as Love is Blind, and Better Call Saul.
The Episode in Question
The scene which has garnered its popularity is in episode 10; this is when one lead sees a doctor who alarmingly presents her findings.
The doctor in the scene said, "We must do more research, but it looks like a mutant coronavirus," While comparing it to previous viral outbreaks this magnitude, she said, "MERS, SARS, the common flu. They all fall in the same family with the same gene information.
'The coronavirus attacks the respiratory system. During the 2015 MERS epidemic, the mortality rate was over 20 percent.'

This is eerily true since MERS and SARS outbreaks were both caused by the coronavirus, which is now part of the family that is now causing COVID-19.
MERS is even deadlier than the COVID-19 as of the moment with a sickly 34.4 percent fatality rate as the latter only has about 16 percent as of the time of this writing.
The scene continues with the lead talking asking the doctor, "But that's not serious enough to be used as a weapon. Am I wrong?"
Which the doctor then replies, "Like I said, this is a mutant virus. Someone tweaked it to increase the mortality rate to almost 90%."
'What's more serious is that the coronavirus has an incubation period of two to 14 days. This virus was manipulated to attack the lungs directly within just five minutes of being exposed."
The Similarities and Differences of The Fictional Virus and The Real Virus
Let's start with the similarities since this is what caught the attention of the people in the first place, the incubation period, in which the coronavirus which matches what the World Health Organization has said and experts around the world have come to agree with. Also, it's true that the coronavirus attacks the lungs and can cause fatalities, mainly if their immune system or underlying factors would prevent the body from counteracting the virus.
The differences between real and fictional viruses are thankfully closer to fiction than the truth. The fictional coronavirus can affect the person's lungs within five minutes of contact, which seems like it's a biological weapon. Also, another difference would be that the fatality rate is way off, from 90% for the fictional one, only 16% of the people infected in the real world has died.
