The release date for GTA 6 looks a long way off, but new footage has shown why waiting for Grand Theft Auto fans will be worth it in the middle of the most extended wait they ever had for a brand new Grand Theft Auto game. That is over six and a half years. That doesn't look like it's going to change anytime soon. Take-Two, the parent company of Rockstar Games, recently revealed that their next fiscal year - which ends in March 2021 - looks set to be a 'light' one for releases.

Take-Two Interactive, Grand Theft Auto developer Rockstar's parent company, typically spends around $10 million to $40 million a year on marketing. It'll drop a whopping $89 million between April 1, 2023, and March 31, 2024, CNET reported. That's leading to fresh rumors that Grand Theft Auto VI will arrive in 2023 or early 2024 at some point.

Take-Two?

As Tezfunz2 revealed in a post, it's planned to launch an "array of titles" teased in the fiscal year covering April 2021 and March 2022.

GTA has not been specifically mentioned, but the comments do seem to indicate that Take Two's next AAA release-and potentially Rockstar-is off some time.

As they wait for the upcoming Grand Theft Auto game has emerged on a new video, it gave a glimpse of how good GTA 6 could be launched.

It is widely speculated that the next GTA game will only come to next-gen consoles, and a release in 2021 or beyond may suggest this is the case.

One of the significant features of next-gen consoles will be ray tracing technology, capable of by the PS5 and Xbox Series X.

This rendering technique helps create extremely lifelike lighting and shadow effects and is used for creating jaw-dropping CGI scenes in Hollywood movies and TV shows.

If GTA 6 only a mere speculation coming to next-gen consoles, then this latest technology is likely to take full advantage of it.

And we got a glimpse of how good GTA 6 could end up looking, thanks to a ray-tracing mod in the works for GTA 5.

New modifications

As reported by Inverse in a post, Natural Visions Evolved is a new mod in the works for Grand Theft Auto 5.

The ray-tracing tech seen in the mod completely turns into something that looks spectacular, a game that was first released back in 2013.

The mod features a full redesign of the lighting system, textures, design models, and ambient color of GTA 5.

The upshot of that is the GTA 5 visuals are fully revitalized with the Natural Visions Evolved mod, sometimes looking nearly photo-realistic.

In 2013 GTA 5 first appeared on the PS3 and Xbox 360 and in 2014 on PS4, Xbox One, and Windows.

And if a ray tracing mod can have such a drastic effect on an aging game like GTA 5, imagine how good GTA 6 could look if built solely for the next-gen consoles?

We look to be in store for a long wait until fans find out the official word on GTA 6, let alone get the first proper glimpse of the highly anticipated title.

In the meantime, this latest GTA 5 mod is the best glimpse of how good GTA 6 could end up looking after it is released.
