Actor John Cusack's career has been quiet for some time now after a long Hollywood career. However, he recently broke his silence amid the noise of protests against police brutality over George Floyd's death.

When Cusack arrived at the site of protests in Chicago, he was allegedly attacked by police officers while documenting the demolitions. Cusack caught the altercation on video and shared it on his Twitter account, according to the Movie Web.

"Cops didn't like me filming the burning car so they came at me with batons. Hitting my bike. Ahhm (here's) the audio," said Cusack on his tweet with the video.

Cusack is the brother of actresses Anne and Joan Cusack. He starred in numerous films, including Better Off Dead, Say Anything, Being John MalkovichLove and Mercy, and High Fidelity.

The protests broke out after Floyd's death while in police custody. In the eight-second video, a man who seems like a police officer shouts at Cusack to get back in his vehicle and leave. Cusack can be heard saying 'All right' multiple times in response as he leaves the scene. However, the camera is too blurred to give proof of what goes on.

Twitter users immediately gave support to the actor's video. Fans were asking whether the police officer hit Cusack, where he replied that only his bike was hit with batons. In other parts of Chicago, looting and rioting incidents arise as the public was raged by the police's failed attempts to keep the peace.

The start of the aggressive protests

On Friday, peaceful protests started with protestors marching down Michigan Avenue. However, as the crowd reached the Eisenhower Expressway, the Chicago police erected a barricade to stop the protestors, and that was when things became violent.

The protests turned into full-scale rioting with shops and the public property being destroyed while protestors and police clashed physically. Meanwhile, the ground traffic was stopped as people marched onto the middle of roads blocking vehicles from passing.

Protestors refused to back down even when the Chicago police entered the fray. Officers were attacked, and police cars burned while law enforcers get into more vicious retribution. Still, the movement did not slow down but instead spread further to other cities as more citizens demanding justice for George Floyd brought their appeals to the streets.

Aside from Cusack's physical presence at the protests, the entertainment industry has also joined as cosplayers dressed up as Batman, Joker, and Spider-Man was seen joining the rallies. Also, Spiderman was seen cleaning riot debris off the streets.

Youtube personality Jake Paul was also seen at Fashion Square in Scottsdale, Arizona, where looting happens. However, Paul clarified he was there only to document the protests, not to steal from the torn stores as many social media regulators assumed.

Cusack continues to be vocal on social media with his support for the movement. He implied that protests will not be ending soon until responsible individuals for the injustice are held accountable for their actions.
