Pokemon GO fans have a big surprise coming with the game's fourth anniversary. Niantic Labs has decided to feature a Flying Pikachu for the event that will start on Friday, July 3, where Flying Pikachus will spawn in the wild and on raids.

Getting a Flying Pikachu for a Limited Time Only

In a blog post, Niantic has detailed what fans could get from the upcoming event, and the first week of challenges where people could get the Shiny Pikachu will start on July 3 at 8:00 a.m. until July 8 at 10:00 p.m. local time.

According to Pokemon GO Hub, the developers are also adding a Shiny version, so if you're lucky, you can get these new limited-time-only Pokemon to your Pokedex.

Although people already know that they will encounter a Flying Pikachu soon, many are not sure how the Pokemon would look like, and if what the developers actually meant was that it would be a Pikachu that knows Fly.

Nevertheless, data miners were able to dig up a file that shows what Niantic Labs has added for the three weeks of celebration, and it shows how incredibly adorable the Flying Pikachu is.

However, we have a little disclaimer: since these files are only reported by Pokemon GO data miners, it is possible that Niantic Labs could change them anytime, so unless the developers themselves officially announce them, take everything with a pinch of salt.

A First Look at Flying Pikachu

Pokemon GO data miner, PokeMiners, has uploaded the file they have dug up on Reddit, and it shows the additions that Niantic Labs did.

According to the Asset Update created by PokeMiners, the devs have added four new sprites days before the start of the Pokemon GO fourth anniversary event.

There are male and female Flying Pikachu sprites and two souvenir sprites, the Souvenir Pikachu Visor and the Souvenir Confetti.

When it comes to the Flying Pikachu version, it's exactly like the original card design for the Flying Pikachu on the Pokemon Trading Cards, with a very adorable Pikachu tied to a few balloons.

There's also a Shiny Flying Pikachu, according to the report, but we don't know what difference there is in terms of appearance, so we'll have to wait for further announcements from Niantic.

What More Can We Expect?

Besides the Flying Pikachu, players will also have a chance to capture a Shiny Pidove and Ducklett during the first week of the challenges for the new event, according to a report by GameRant.

The news outlet also noted that the three weeks of themed-challenges from Niantic is sort of a warm-up for the Pokemon GO Fest 2020 happening this July.

As Tech Times previously reported, this year's GO Fest will be much different than the past as people around the world could remotely join from the comfort of their home, as long as they buy a ticket worth $14.99 that gives you access to the two-day celebration.

There are activities that anyone can join, but the biggest ones are for ticket holders only.

Although it is pricey, Niantic Labs has promised to donate all of the proceeds to various BLM organizations and their black developers, so it's definitely going to a good cause.
