Samsung will be unveiling their latest flagship devices on the next Unpacked event, which will happen on Aug. 5, wherein the tech giant will finally unveil the Samsung Galaxy Note 20 series, including the Galaxy Note 20 and the Note 20 Ultra.

The Rumors of a Controversial Change

In these events, the flagship phones' announcements and their features, including their prices, are often the highlight.

However, according to the Daily Express, several rumors are going around that the South Korean company will also be unveiling two new foldable devices, with one that is expected to be within the $1000 price point.

There are also speculations going around that the tech giant will be making one enormous and controversial change for its next flagship devices.

Based on the report, the company is reportedly planning to remove the chargers from the boxed sets, meaning that the Galaxy Note 20 and the Note 20 Ultra will be the last flagship devices from Samsung that will come with a charger straight out of the box.

The rumor was also reported by Sam Mobile, who noted that the significant change would be happening next year to help the company reduce some costs.

Will it Benefit Consumers?

Although it could be a massive change, it may actually benefit consumers, who most likely have an extra charger lying around in their house somewhere, as the news outlet suggested that if it were to happen, the company might be able to make their devices more affordable compared to their current price point.

Additionally, it seems like Samsung is also banking on the idea that USB chargers are very common, especially as one charger could already charge multiple brands.

Nevertheless, it's still quite unclear whether they're making a move for their consumers or the company's benefit.

Apple Allegedly Thinking the Same Thing

But it appears as though the South Korean tech giant is not the only phone company thinking of removing bundled-in chargers, as Ming-Chi Kuo, a reliable analyst who has provided accurate predictions in the past, claimed that Apple is also planning to remove this feature.

The company is also thinking of removing the wired earbuds that often come with the devices, especially when marketing the wireless AirPods.

If it is true, the iPhone 12 and the iPhone 12 Pro will be shipped without chargers and earbuds.

Apparently, Apple's decision to make these controversial changes offers the iPhone 12 at the same price as iPhone 11.

By cutting down the costs with manufacturing each boxed set of iPhone 12 devices, they could maintain the current price point of the device--and it won't be such a massive deal breaker as iPhone chargers often work with other iPhone variants.

Nevertheless, it would still be a surprising change for smartphone lovers who are used to seeing chargers when they unbox their devices.

But for now, take the news with a grain of salt as Samsung and Apple haven't exactly announced anything about removing these bundled-in add-ons.
