Looking to revive deleted files? Worry not, Microsoft has unveiled its very own Windows File Recovery tool, a feature designed to allow you to retrieve mistakenly deleted files on your devices.

It could be frustrating to see the files that you have worked hard for get deleted accidentally, but now with this feature, you can do something about it. The tool is categorized as a command line app that can recover several documents and files from local hard drivers, SD memory cards, and USB drives.

However, cloud storage Recovery files and the network files share are not yet supported by the newest feature.

Guidelines

Similar to any file recovery approach, this has to be used as soon as you can in order to ensure that the files have not been overwritten. This is because there are limitations as with any other tool in Microsoft, and other platforms.

The tool covers MP3 files, MP4 clips, JPEG images, PDF files, and your office-related files from Microsoft Word, Excel, and Powerpoint presentations.

Designed largely for NTFS file systems, this file recovery tool from Microsoft makes use of a default modality that lets users recover files even from corrupted disks, or after they have completed the disk formatting.

On the other hand, there will be a second signature that could be launched to be a popular choice, letting the users of the platform recover particular data or files from ReFS, FAT, and exFAT file systems.

The new tool is very helpful for users who have accidentally removed a file they are working on in their job, or they have mistakenly cleaned their drive. It is very different from the previous ones, because, aside from being owned by the tech company, it also sets itself apart from file recovery tools from previous Windows systems.

How to use the feature

Here is a step-by-step guide on how you can use the file recovery tool.

First, what you can do is to open the Windows File Recovery Tool from the Start menu, and then, open the Windows Terminal or the PowerShell as your administrator.

You might need know-how on coding here. In the HTML box setting, you may type in the command "winfr" to find your options.

There are several choices on recovering lost files. One of these is to run commands to restore a file or folder based on the file type, file name, or "wildcard names."

Users may visit the Microsoft Support page to view options, including advanced details.
