Ever since Disney and Marvel have acquired Fox, fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe have been eager to hear some news on the future of the MCU and whether the characters from Fox's Marvel side will be included in the MCU.

Will We See More of Deadpool?

Among the characters, fans have been excited to see in the Marvel Cinematic Universe is Deadpool, the immortal mercenary who likes to break the fourth wall.

In the comics, the Merc with a Mouth has been in contact with tons of our favorite Marvel characters, including the Avengers, like Tony Stark and Spiderman, and even got entangled with Thanos and his love affair, getting himself cursed to be immortal.

Nevertheless, in the movies, Deadpool was only able to interact with a few X-Men besides a few seconds of a cameo from young Professor X and the team.

That's why fans have been hoping to finally have Deadpool meet the Avengers and wreak havoc in the MCU, but if Deadpool creator Rob Liefied is to be asked, he doesn't have high hopes like the fans.

The Future of the Merc in the MCU

In a report by GamesRadar, Liefield confessed that he is not optimistic about Deadpool's future in the MCU, saying he's not really crazy about Marvel's plans.

When asked by Inverse if there are any plans to make another Deadpool or X-Force movie in collaboration with the MCU, Liefield says: "Here's what people don't want to hear, but thank God I'm a realist. I feel like Deadpool, the movies, they've set sail."

"We got two brilliant movies, and we live in a culture that always looks forward because all they're ever selling us is 'next, next, next, next. Yeah, you like that? Here's next.' It's the fever," the creator continued.

He then disclosed that Marvel has no plans for Deadpool 3, something that fans have been waiting for quite a while after the second movie.

Different Than Before

Liefield's confession was different from Deadpool 2 director David Leitch's answer back in 2019 when he was asked about the placement of the Merc within the MCU.

According to his interview with Yahoo! Movies, Leitch heard "all positive" discussions about Deadpool's future in the MCU and that they are just trying to find a way in for the Merc to insert himself in the now-established Cinematic Universe.

Even the Merc himself, played by Ryan Reynolds, had high hopes with the union of Disney, Marvel, and Fox, saying that it's a "win for everyone involved."

As of now, MCU's Phase 4 is delayed because of the coronavirus pandemic, with Black Widow postponed from May to November of this year--and the company is not even a hundred percent sure that they will push through with the date, seeing as the pandemic is still going in full force.

The future isn't yet set in stone, so maybe if the pandemic is over, we'll get to hear more of Disney and Marvel's plans about the X-Men and Deadpool franchises.
