After months of teasing the cars, Epic Games has finally announced that the upcoming Fortnite update version 13.40 will include the vehicles--and according to a teaser via the game's official Twitter, a semi-truck called "Mudflap."

Fortnite Welcomes Cars!

According to Dexerto, the developers have confirmed the arrival of 13.4 on Wednesday, Aug. 5, a couple of weeks after the v.13.30 was rolled out.

After the update, Fortnite players should be able to enjoy riding the Joy Ride vehicles across the island after several delays that made the players a lot more excited for the arrival of cars--something players have always wanted.

Based on the teasers that Epic posted, four cars have been confirmed: one called "Whiplash" that looks like a race car, the semi-truck Mudflap, the sedan called "Prevalent" and a pick-up truck known as "Bear."

There will most likely be more cars that will be added to the game, as according to information by Fortnite leaker @VastBlastt, the vehicles will be divided into four categories: Trucks, Large Cars, Medium Cars, and Small Cars.

Each category boasts its own unique stats, with some cars being able to sustain more damage.

Cars and Radio Stations

Previous leaks have also revealed that the vehicles will have a maximum speed of somewhere between 28 and 45 and will have 500 health.

Additionally, it has the ability to "eject" players after receiving 50 damage.

Moreover, the data leakers also suggest that Fortnite players could acquire metal mats when they hit objects, plus these vehicles could deal around 800 damage to buildings near them, while players at short range will be hit with 50 damage and 200 damage at long range.

Besides the cars, the update will also include "radio stations" that could play whenever the players have access to a radio.

But how will this work for streamers?

Based on the report, Epic provides streamers an option to activate a "copyright-safe" playlist, which is available on the Creator Option audio settings to prevent any problem they might have in the future.

Bug Fixes and a New Area

Of course, the latest update will also include some bug fixes.

According to FortniteINTEL, Epic Games will most likely address the problems listed on the "Fixed in Next Game Update" on their Trello community board, including the following issues:

  • Slow Glider speed after redeploying in certain situations
  • Ocean's Bottomless Chug Jug unable to be picked up while recharging if dropped by another player.
  • "Deal damage within 10s of landing from the Whirlpool at Hydro 16" should say "at The Yacht" instead.
  • XP bar can be visually incorrect while in a match. / Incorrect leveling-up.

Meanwhile, there will also be some map changes--basically, the flood water that engulfed some parts of the island is finally receding and revealing some familiar parts of the map.

According to GameSpot, a new area called Coral Castle will be explorable after the latest update, which is apparently the game's version of Atlantis.

Coral Castle is located north of Sweaty Sands.
