The COVID-19 pandemic has made it impossible to travel anywhere without risking your family's safety, and everyone you make contact with, which is why many flights have been canceled and travel restrictions are still in place.

How Microsoft Flight Simulator Brings Us the World

Thankfully, the Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 is here, and it can bring the world to us while we stay at home.

This flight simulator is perhaps one of the best and most popular in the genre, and fans are giving it great reviews, especially as it allows you to visit various popular sites and cities in the world.

There are preset landmarks in the game, and you can visit each one in your spare time or when you're feeling nostalgic about the good old days when you were free to travel anywhere you want and view the world from above.

However, not every location is available as a preset landmark--so, what if you want to visit a particular place?

How to Visit Any Place

According to RPS, the solution is actually quite simple:

  • Go to Google Maps and locate your desired location.
  • Click on an unmarked spot next to your preferred location, so a pin appears, then a box should also appear on the screen with the exact coordinates of the new pin you have placed.
  • Click on the coordinates. This should bring up the new location on a panel on the left side of the screen.
  • Copy the coordinates on the screen exactly as how they were written.
  • Launch Microsoft Flight Simulator.
  • Go to the World Map screen, where you can set up a new flight.
  • Simply paste the coordinates you have copied on the search bar on the top-left part of the screen.
  • There should be a dropdown list that will appear. Click the coordinates that appear, right under "Custom."
  • Click on the new pin that has appeared on the World Map and then click on "Set as Departure."

After you have the departure set, start your flight, and the game should start above your chosen location.

Of course, you can set another location for arrival, you simply have to follow the same set of instructions, and instead of choosing "Set as Departure," choose "Set as Arrival."

Nevertheless, you can still start the game without setting one.

Using GPS Coordinates

Furthermore, the gaming news outlet also says this trick not only works for latitude/longitude but also with GPS coordinates if you have them as Microsoft Flight Simulator understands both forms and will still place the pin in the exact location.

Remember, this trick works on any location on Earth, which means you can visit common neighborhoods or landscapes that aren't exactly popular, but you want to visit--or maybe you can visit your old hometown or locations in the countries you want to visit.

If you want to try this game out and travel the world without going out of your house, Microsoft Flight Simulator is available on the Microsoft Store and Steam and is available on Windows PC and Xbox One.
