Tech Times announced our 2015 CES Best of Innovation Honorees and the list of winners included everything from Samsung's ultra-thin and powerful Series 9 2015 Edition Ultrabook to LG's 4K Ultra HD TV powered by webOS 2.0. One device that stood out on the list not only makes life easier, it can actually save the life of the person wearing it.

Dexcom's G4 Platinum CGM (Continuous Glucose Monitor) makes living with Diabetes easier by providing continuous blood glucose readings on the rate and direction of glucose change up to every five minutes.

"Dexcom's mission is to provide doctors, patients and caregivers new medical technology to improve their understanding and management of diabetes," said Terrance H. Gregg, CEO, Dexcom. "The G4 PLATINUM Professional is Dexcom's latest answer for healthcare professionals and patients seeking novel and insightful tools to optimize therapeutic decisions."

The Dexcom G4 Platinum CGM at first glance looks more like an iPod than a serious medical device and consists of the receiver, which is available in vibrant colors, and sensors which the user places on his or her body to transmit blood glucose readings. The receiver displays the user's current blood glucose and also provides a graph that shows the user how their blood sugar has been throughout the day and even alerts the user if it detects dangerous high or low blood glucose readings based on readings every 5 minutes. This is extremely important during sleep when the user might not feel the effects of a dangerously low or high blood sugar and act accordingly.
