PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds (PUBG) is now looking for an Indian gaming firm that could help India operate again. The Indian government previously restricted 118 Chinese apps in the country, including PUBG, the popular battle royale.

The game released an official statement to give its fans hope that they'll be able to play the game in India again. On Sept. 8, PUBG Corp confirmed that Tencent Gaming in India would no longer control the game. It also explained that the gaming brand would take all the publishing responsibilities.

This means that the mobile game could return to India since the South Korea-based gaming company is taking over the responsibilities. According to News18's previous report, Tencent's market value lost $34 billion just a day after the Chinese apps ban.

Ever since PUBG's ban, it was speculated that the game would look for a new publisher or open a dedicated headquarters. Some sources suggested that although the game is looking for an Indian partner, only a licensing agreement will be created, and PUBG Corporation will retain its publishing rights.

The Indian gaming firm will be responsible for distributing the game across the country. However, there are no updates yet from PUBG Mobile India or PUBG Corp as of the moment.

What PUBG Corp said

Finding a new India-based distributor may not be the only solution for the country's restriction of the popular battle royale. The government sent over 70 queries to PUBG as soon as the ban was implemented.

"Ownership is only one of the concerns. But there are several other issues, based on which the ban has been ordered. The concerns are related to data privacy security, activity inside the phone, etc.," explained a senior government official.

On the other hand, PUBG Corporation stated that it respects and fully understands the government's measures since its top priority is still the players' security and privacy.

"It hopes to work hand-in-hand with the Indian government to find a solution that will allow gamers to once again drop into the battlegrounds while being fully compliant with Indian laws and regulations," added the company.
