Apple's iOS 14 brought a lot of features and innovations that adhered to users and fans' cries to the company that is initially controlling and limiting customization on its devices, unlike its rival, Google's Android Operating System. Presently, Apple gave its fans a feature that enabled application icons to be modified to whatever the user wishes to.

Apple's iOS 14 was released not less than a week ago with users and developers still mapping out the new interface, the world's most valuable technology company added. While iOS 14 may seem like a regular update and even resembles iOS 13, the new operating system indeed has a lot more to offer to its users.

The all-new iOS 14 brings the world several features which fans and its users asked for. Several of these, as well, can be found on Android's interface and is relatively not new for Google's OS users. However, this is a giant leap for Apple and the company because of its dedication to providing the simple and straightforward technology of the iPhones.

The simple and straightforward tech of iPhones and the iOS aims to give the people a usable phone that no longer needs any tweaks and customization. This is the reason why some Android purists frown on Apple's iOS. Android boasts of the customization feature that gives users the possibility of customizing almost everything.

How to Change Application Icons in iOS 14?

Apple finally gave its users the requested and most awaited feature in iOS 14 and fans worldwide are showing off their customized icons and widgets that follow a specific theme. Much like Android, different-colored or motif themes can now be seen on iPhones and iOS.

This method will allow users to create a mirror that will provide an application with another 'skin' but will ultimately redirect it to the Shortcut application before the actual, targeted app. While this may seem bothersome, the primary purpose of this is to customize the appearance of applications to match a user's preferred theme.

  • Go to the Shortcuts Application and tap the '+' button. This will prompt users to a new slide that shows a "New Shortcut" title, where users will click the "Add Action."

  • Users will now be transferred to another slide or page that will show the shortcuts and actions that can be used. Either search or scroll for the "Open App" option and click it. That command will bring users to another page and will show a "Choose" option, click it and select the application you wish to change. (In this case, Music will be the sample application)

  • This will now prompt users to select the icon from Photos, Files, or Camera options and then a customized name which you will type on the field provided.

  • Click "Add" on the upper right corner, and a notification will say that it has successfully been added to the home screen. On your iPhone's home screen, rearrange the applications until you see the subtract or delete option.

  • Remove the original application but be careful and choose only the "Move to App Library" option. Deleting the application would cause a failure to launch the shortcut and using the actual app.
