Amazon's initial venture into the gaming world with first AAA development game, Crucible, is now seeing unexpected demise. Crucible's limited release this year from being public to a closed beta is shortly ending in November.

Amazon's Games leg previously announced the third-person shooter game last 2016, promising that it will go against popular titles Call of Duty, Valorant, and Player's Unknown Battlegrounds (PUBG). Crucible aimed to compete in the challenging market with some of the established favorites of players with huge fanbases.

Relentless Studios, a subsidiary company of Amazon, LLC, is now making a tough choice to discontinue the game in November, completely wiping it from the servers and availability in public. This year, Amazon launched Crucible's public beta for players to experience. However, after several updates and patches, the team decided to move it to a closed beta.

According to Crucible's blog written by the team, July saw the move from open to a closed beta. This decision is to determine the needs of the games, listing features alongside. The developers then used these features to identify the low points and additions needed.

However, after evaluating the feedback from gamers' chosen closed beta, the team decided to roll out the "Final Crucible Developer Update," aiming to remove the game from its servers and systems. Crucible was made four years in fruition, since its announcement in 2016.

Crucible's developers shared that the game's reviews and evaluation from the closed beta players did not fare well on the blog post. The team said that they "didn't see a healthy, sustainable future ahead of Crucible." Despite the flop and bitter end of the game, Relentless Studios still looks forward to a fruitful future ahead.

Amazon and Relentless Studios are promising to return all the purchased goods in the game. Players are advised to visit Amazon's support page to learn more of the refunded in-game purchases. Within the next weeks, Crucible will be hosting its final playtest and community celebration.

At noon PST, November 9, 2020, Amazon and Relentless would close the matchmaking for Crucible, meaning that all multiplayer modes would be disabled. However, gamers with the closed beta version would still be able to play through the custom matchmaking mode.

The developers claim that they will now focus on the massive multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG), New World, also from Amazon. The promising game is rated by MMORPG.com with a substantial 7.2 out of 10 points.

The fictional action-adventure game will be soon release by the first quarter of 2021, exciting gamers with Amazon's soon to be early release. Amazon's Relentless Studios also promises to focus on other titles that will soon be part of the company's many game line-up.

Amazon also brought in Smilegate as partners for a new game that has yet been announced by the company. Smilegate is a South Korean game developer known for CrossFire and famous MMORPG, Lost Ark.
