Bungie's "Destiny 2" fans are looking forward to the arrival of the "Beyond Light" expansion, but before the servers go offline for the expansion's launch, players can partake in a small-scale live event happening now.

"Destiny 2" fans can try to log in the game to experience the small live event before the expansion arrives.

'Destiny 2' Small In-Game Event Happening Now

According to GameSpot, a small update is currently available in-game, so go ahead and download it to start with the small event.

After downloading the update and logging in to the game, head to the Tower map in the Director, where players will see a small blue banner at the top. Clicking it will launch a limited-time mission that will send you to the Last City.

Based on GameSpot's guide, the mission aims to investigate the strange sensations Ghosts on the planet are sensing.

Once the "Destiny 2" limited-time mission is complete, players will receive a new emblem called the Calamity Protocol.

Soon after, a wave of Light will hit your character, giving you a boost called "Quickness," which will allow you to run faster and jump higher. After receiving the boost, go through the door. You should go out into an open rooftop with other Guardians--and then wait.

Apparently, there really isn't much to do yet, and like tons of other Guardians, you'll have to wait and see what happens, with some "Destiny 2" fans speculating the event will end up with the Traveler healing, especially as it appears as though it's glowing and repairing itself, as per GamesRadar.

'Destiny 2' Maintenance and Technical Issues

Nevertheless, it seems like tons of fans are unable to log in to the game or are experiencing technical issues as they try to log in and partake in the small event.

If that's happening to you, you are not alone.

According to the reports, "Destiny 2" servers are having a hard time keeping up with the influx of players trying to log in at the same time to witness the live event.

Bungie is keeping the players updated over their Twitter help desk account.

But apart from the new emblem, there aren't any big in-game happenings, except perhaps the healing of Traveler. So, if you haven't been able to log in for the small event, don't fret, the bigger event is happening this Tuesday, November 10.

When is 'Beyond Light' Coming?

To prepare for "Beyond Light," fans should expect the servers to be down this Monday night starting at 7 PM PT or 10 PM ET for maintenance, which should last until 12 NN PT or 3 PM ET, Tuesday afternoon. The expansion should be available by then.

For the complete schedule, players can check out Bungie's blog.

Although the downtime seems pretty long, it is expected given how massive "Beyond Light" is, especially as players expect the entire landscape of the game to change with the coming of the expansion.

For those who are new to "Destiny 2," the expansion will center on the Traveler, a mysterious being of the light, as well as its antithesis, The Darkness, which have been teased ever since the game launched six years ago, according to CBR.
