A man listens to an iPod MP3 player through earphones August 17, 2005 in Sydney, Australia. Research conducted by the National Acoustic Laboratories, to be released by the Australian Federal Government today, has found that up to a 25% of people who use iPods or other portable music devices will suffer from hearing problems as a result of listening to their players at "excessive and damaging" levels.

However, SoundCloud seems to be the only that didn't have it. Now, that's changing since the popular music platform announced that it will start displaying the blue checkmarks next to the profiles of verified creators.

This new update might help the app to prevent copycats from using the songs of the original composers.

"We're doing this to help well-known artists stand out and maintain their authenticity, and to help listeners identify these artists more easily," said the company, as reported by The Next Web.

SoundCloud's new blue checkmarks will help artists

According to SoundCloud's blog post, the blue checkmarks will help popular artists maintain their authenticity and stand out even more. This will help the listeners to identify the legit artists.

If you have a SoundCloud account, you'll notice that orange Pro star badges are now displayed exclusively on the profiles of Pro suscribers. The star badges will help fellow creators, listeners, and industry contacts know that they are improving their music to the next level.

Requirements needed

Of course, many popular artists already received the new blue checkmarks. These include Wiz Khalifa, Trippie Redd, Billie Eilish, and other top-performing musicians.

Content creators who are not that popular could also receive the blue checkmarks, however, they still need to meet certain criteria.

  • The SoundCloud account must be a well-known or highly-searched-for artists, DJ, collective, laber, podcaster, or curator.
  • It should have a profile photo, a bio, and at least one track uploaded in the account.
  • The account must be a unique profile. This means that impersonators and fan accounts will not get verification from SoundCloud.
  • It must adhere to the music platform's terms of use and doesn't contain any misleading information.
