Samsung's 110-inch MicroLED 4K TV is now on pre-sale in Korea after its launch on December 10. The display called as The Wall is the tech giant's answer to the increasing demand for large screen TVs over the past year.
Samsung vows to provide a spectacular visual experience with its ultra-large next-generation display. According to Engadget, the model will be available in the global market by first quarter of 2021.
Samsung MicroLED 4K TV Massive Single Display
The South Korean company has been promoting its MicroLED technology for a couple of years already with its earlier models of massive displays. During the CES 2018 event, Samsung revealed The Wall, a mammoth 146-inch LED TV as well as a 219-inch model and a 75-inch display, which are all modular display that require installation.
In contrast, Samsung MicroLED 4K TV is pre-assembled, which can be easily installed just like any other TV models. The company noted that while the MicroLED TV technology is scalable and can be utilized to produce any size of displays, it was impossible in the past to mass-produce a 110-inch MicroLED TV for simple home installation.
Samsung even had to adopt the production process from the semiconductor manufacturing as well as create a new technology for surface mounting to be able to launch this massive TV. In the future, Samsung can produce much smaller MicroLED screens.
Samsung Electronics President of Visual Display Business Jonghee Han said on a press statement that Samsung's MicroLED 4K TV will be redefining "what premium at-home experiences mean for consumers" worldwide.
The 110-inch MicroLED TV uses LED lights that are micrometer in size and can last up to 100,000 hours or about a decade. It has 4K resolution with up to 8 million pixels and supports 4K HDR content. It offers a Multi-View feature, which can show up to four shows at once via split screens.
This mammoth TV boasts a 99.9% screen-to-body ratio. Samsung also claims that the screen to deliver accurate "wide color gamut images taken with high-end DSLR cameras," so it can completely express both the Adobe RGB and DCI color ranges.
Meanwhile, the new MicroLED The Wall model also offers a 5.1 surround sound capability with its built-in "Majestic Sound System" without an external speaker. It also comes with a feature that monitors moving objects shown onscreen and project sounds that seem to follow them.

Samsung MicroLED 4K TV Price
Samsung has not yet revealed how much the new 110-inch MicroLED 4K TV price as of this writing. One thing for sure, it would be really expensive. Samsung's 98-inch 8K TV that uses standard LCD-based QLED display technology costs $60,000 while a 75-inch 8K QLED TV is priced at $15,000.
Meanwhile, depending on the number of individual modules purchased, The Wall can cost between $100,000 and $300,000. Toms Guide reported that individual panels are priced at more than $16,000 each while multiple panels are needed to create a single 4K display.
Well, one thing for sure, it is another display that only the rich can afford.
