Amazon recently released its mobile cloud gaming services for Android smartphones, known as Amazon Luna, featuring a massive library of titles and nifty internet cloud-based features but holds a humongous catch. Amazon Luna is the rival of the earlier released Google Stadia with no reservations or restrictions for smartphone gaming.

The famous e-commerce company's take at the internet and cloud-based gaming, Amazon Luna, recently made its services available for the Android smartphone platform, and users are immensely excited about its arrival. However, there are initial concerns on Amazon's release, which only shows limited models and units of smartphones that it is compatible with.

According to Amazon Luna's website, there are only 21 smartphones from three companies that are "compatible" with the cloud gaming service from the e-commerce company. Indeed the company's directions and compatibility list are confusing as the service can be accessed through Google Chrome's web browser.

  • Pixel 4 XL, Pixel 4a, Pixel 4a 5G, Pixel 5
  • OnePlus 7, OnePlus 7 Pro, OnePlus 8, OnePlus 8 Pro, OnePlus Nord, OnePlus 7T, OnePlus 7T Pro, OnePlus 7T Pro
  • Samsung Galaxy S10, Samsung Galaxy S10+, Samsung Galaxy Note 10, Samsung Galaxy Note 10+, Samsung Galaxy S20, Samsung Galaxy S20+, Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra, Samsung Note 20

Amazon Luna's cloud gaming service requirements only ask of two things, namely, the latest version of the Google Chrome browser and Android version 9.0 or higher. However, uncanny enough, only a shortlist of smartphones listed above are reflected on Luna's site.

Initial impressions have already had users asking why there are only a limited number of compatible Android devices listed on Amazon Luna's website despite the cloud gaming service mainly relying on web browsers. The selected devices have lapses between them as later-released appliances are not included, while their predecessors are.

Controller Compatibility

Notably, Amazon Luna can work with most controllers present in the market, primarily with its intended Luna controller, Sony's DualShock 4 from the PlayStation 4, and Xbox One Controllers. All controllers can be connected to phones and PCs via Bluetooth.

Price

Amazon Luna offers a starting price for 4K quality games for only $5.99 a month, which is a reasonable starting price for its soon-expanding games library. Also, Ubisoft would join Amazon Luna's platform with its game, offering $14.99 for its monthly subscription, coming soon.

Hopefully, Amazon would offer a Luna and Ubisoft bundle for only one price to pay for both services since both would run on the same platform.
