Google Messages app just received a new security feature. If you want to protect your text messages and SMS, then you really need to use this Google service.

Android Central confirmed that Google Messages already received the latest end-to-end encryption feature that can completely protect your messages from spies and hackers.
Cybercriminals are currently evolving as they discover and create new methods to breach sensitive user information. These include emails, social media accounts, databases, and even normal text messages and SMS.

Why? Because some people tend to save or send their passwords and other sensitive data to other people through SMS or text messages. However, you don't have to worry about it, thanks to the new security feature of the Google Messages app. To help you with that, here's a quick guide on how to activate the new end-to-end encryption feature.

Activating end-to-end encryption

  • The first thing you need to do is install the Google Messages app from the Play Store app. Once you do that, you need to click the "Beta Signup" option.
  • Once you are done signing up, you need to wait for a couple of minutes. You might want to refresh your Google Messages app while waiting.  After that, you need to open the app and click the three-dot menu, which is located in the top right corner.

  • Once you find it, go to the settings option and choose the chat features. Tap on the toggle on Enable chat features. The end-to-end encryption will be automatically enabled once you are successfully enrolled in the Beta Program.
  • After that, you need to open an existing chat or start a new one.

Google Messages App receives iMessage-like reactions

According to Android Police's latest report, Google started to roll out iMessage-like reactions to its Messages app. As of the moment, the new feature only works for RCS chats.

The iMessage-like reactions allow users to quickly react to a text without having to type a whole new reply. It is currently available on the Messages web client, allowing you to send emoji feedback from the comfort of your own computer.
