Just in time for the Christmas holiday, Zoom will be launching its native app for Apple Silicon M1 Mac devices to make it easier for Mac owners to spend the holidays with their loved ones via Zoom as part of the "new normal" routine due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Zoom Native App on M1 Macs
According to 9to5Mac, the Zoom app will begin supporting Mac M1 devices this Monday, December 21.
Based on the release notes by the video conferencing software, the company will also be releasing a separate installer for M1 Macs, which can be downloaded in the Zoom Download Center.
Zoom has been running on Mac devices for a long time, albeit indirectly.
However, through the software's update, Zoom will become a universal program, which means it will be able to run on Intel devices as well as on Apple Silicon devices, and according to Apple, the app might even run better in Rosetta with M1 compared to Intel.
Furthermore, it hasn't actually been that hard on Silicon Mac devices, even with their batteries, despite using code translation.
What are the Changes?
With that, the changes of the native Zoom app may not actually be discernible, although if you've been struggling with a sluggish performance in the past, the update will change that.
Using a native code may also increase the app's longevity, according to Engadget.
Besides the December 21 update highlight, it will also allow people to call the contacts they have imported via the software's contact integration, plus those with a Zoom Phone Pro license can also begin sending and receiving MMS and SMS on their phones directly.

Due to the ongoing pandemic, Zoom has seen a rise in the number of users this year as companies and schools have begun adopting remote working and learning to avoid further spread of the COVID-19 virus.
The software is being used for virtual meetings and even online classes.
Free Unlimited Meetings via Zoom
But lately, it's being used to celebrate holidays, including Thanksgiving wherein the company temporarily removed its 40-minute limit so families and friends could virtually celebrate with each other.
With the Christmas and New Year celebrations drawing near, the company is even encouraging people to stay at home and celebrate virtually, as per Slashgear, and if you're using the new generation of Apple computers, the native app will most likely make your experience a lot better.
Speaking of Christmas Zoom celebrations, families can guarantee that the 40-minute cap will be temporarily lifted for Christmas once again as it did for Thanksgiving and Hanukkah.
According to ABC News, the dates and times for the free unlimited meetings will be:

Again, due to the ongoing pandemic, it's better to stay at home and celebrate the holidays virtually to avoid the further spread of the disease.
