Valorant is taking the gaming world by storm since their official release in June 2020. The free-to-play multiplayer first-person shooter game from Riot Games is a PC-exclusive game till now. With its three official game modes: Unrated default mode, the casual Spike Rush, and the really serious competitive mode, it's a one of a kind tactical game. For playing the competitive mode, the Valorant cheats can be of extreme help for sure.

The Competitive mode uses the Valorant ranked system that allows each player to earn his/her competitive rank after some placement matches. These ranks in the game reflect your current skill level. Based on this skill, you get connected to other players for your future ranking plays. However, you may find some difficulty in understanding the ranking system in Valorant.

If you have questions about Valorant skill tiers and ranking systems, you are about to get all your queries solved in this guide. We have a breakdown of how the ranked system of the game works and how the tiers play their role.

When Does The Ranked Mode Unlocks In Valorant?

Have you just begun your journey in Valorant? You might be curious to know that when will the ranked, Competitive mode unlock. It will take 20 Unrated matches before you unlock the serious Competitive mode in the game. The game doesn't stop you if you lose among these sets of 20 games; you just have to complete each one. Don't worry about winning or losing these Unrated matches as it won't affect your rank as you unlock Competitive mode. Your performance in each game will grade your ranking in the third mode of the game.

Number Of Placement Matches To Get Ranked

So, you have already entered the league of the ranked system of the game. You must complete at least five placement matches for receiving the first rank. The performance you will show in these matches will determine the first Valorant rank.

Valorant Ranks And Ranked Tiers

From start to end, there are eight ranks in Valorant. Except for the Radiant, the top rank, each one rank has three ranked tiers. So, in the game, you will be moving up the 22 possible ranked tiers. Also, each of these tiers would get their own skill badge, and you will be collecting as you complete each game with great performance. For clarifying the players about the ranked system, Riot has also provided a handy guide that follows here:

Previously, during the beta stage of the game, Riot used the name "Valorant" for the top rank. But it immediately created some confusion. That's why they change the top rank name in their 1.02 version of the game, to "Radiant".

How The Ranking System Works In Valorant

Unlike most games, Valorant doesn't focus on winning the game for gaining a rank. But, the personal performance you offer in the game will have a big impact on getting a rank. If you perform very well despite losing, you will be raking up faster. However, your worse performance than the previous matches will hurt your progress in competitive rank. Of course, the winning will make a difference when you are at a higher level in the game. After you reach the first Competitive rank, you will be matching against the players who are within two ranks from your standpoint.

How To Track Rank Progression

Valorant actively keeps a track on each player's progression. However, you won't be able to access much more information as it will remain behind the scenes. But Riot has said that they will provide more information soon where you will be able to see the performance, match history, and few other states.

Does Rank Get Reset If One Hasn't Played It For Some Time?

Absolutely not! In Valorant, your rank won't get reset even if you don't play for a while. However, your inactive state for 14 days will temporarily "hide" the rank until you play your next match. However, it doesn't mean the rank has disappeared totally. Others won't be able to see it until you become active again in the game.

That's all! Now you know all about Valorant competitive mode. If you have any doubt or queries, write it down in the box below. For more information, keep following us.
