Will Intel finally end the Intel vs. AMD debate?

The Intel Core i7-111700K appears to make its way smoothly through the Geekbench 5 benchmark tool. The optimum performance that it has shown over last gen parts has brought attention to many. Intel's unlaunched Core i1 seems to be a great contender in Geekbench 5.

The two are very similar in the variety of processors that they offer. Both include mobile and server options. Intel has been the standard for decades especially for desktop CPUs. Back in the day, AMD was way behind.

However, with the rise of AMD'S Ryzen processors, things have been different lately. AMD Ryzen, according to TechRadar, is easily AMD's most expensive unit.

Both AMD and Intel have been racing to the top of the charts for many years now. According to PCGamer, the debate has never been settled between technology enthusiasts an which among the two are better.

Intel has made it Ahead of AMD in latest Benchmark Tool

Being single core, the chip bags a score of 1807 points, making a crypto score of 5423. On the other hand, the multi-core version of the chip makes 10,673 points. For the record, the AMD Ryzen 5950X has making it the forerunner of the game. It has topped the Geek Bench 5v score charts. It has scored 1713 points which makes Intel's Rocket Lake Chip ahead in Single-threaded applications for about 5.5%.

Given this record, it could be easy to assume that Intel has won the game with Geekbench 5. The caveat here is that Geekbench 5 only uses AVX-512, which also means that only the Rocket Lake Chip of Intel supports it. As a result, the scores of Intel are slightly inflated on the charts. Despite Intel showing greater scores in the leak, AMD's Zen 3 Chips might still be a good choice for single-threaded applications, as there have not been any innovative applications that use this yet.

For multi-thread loads, AMD clearly leads the game having a score of 14,471 points in the 14-core 5906X which is significantly higher as compared to that of the 10,673 points for the Intel i7-1100K. however, a AVX-512 discrepancy has made the Rocket Lake vs AMD chip debate ambiguous as of the time being.

Intel's i7-11700K has not yet been released yet but Is expected to have top-notch features such as 8 cores as well as 16 threads on a frequency of 3.6GHz. It's also expected to boost up to 4.8GHz. But still, it's important not to get all hopes up. Engineered to be a 14nm CPU, power consumption might still be an issue, showing A 125 pl1 profile.

According to WCCFtech, the Intel i7 might be cheaper than that of the i9 variant. Intel has initially established a date for the Rocket Lake launching, which is the first quarter of the next year. However, others are expecting that it might come anytime in the early 2021.
