Gamers have been keeping an eye on the new Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S. Unfortunately, the said consoles are difficult to come by for months now as it is always out of stock. Sony also released PlayStation 5 which is a console that is also getting a lot of attention.

Both Sony and Microsoft are struggling with stock shortages and a number of hardware issues. Luckily, you don't have to wait a long time for a console as there are alternatives that you can get so you can play games while waiting for the restock of the Xbox Series X and the Xbox Series S.

Analogue Pocket

The Analogue Pocket looks like the new version of Nintendo's Game Boy Pocket that was launched in the 90s. With this console, you can play "Pokémon Red", "The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Seasons" and "Advance Wars."

Analogue Pocket is also planning to release adapters for $30 that will let you play "Game Gear", "Neo Geo Pocket Color", "Atari Lynx", "TurboGrafx-16/PC Engine" and "SuperGrafx" games.

The handheld improves upon the original design of the Game Boy with two extra buttons, twin shoulder buttons and three small system buttons. It also has stereo speakers, a headphone jack and a 4,300 mAh battery that can be charged using USB-C.

Playdate

Panic's Playdate has a monochrome scree. It also has a fold-out crank on the right-hand side of the console. The crank is a control method, like the D-pad and twin face buttons.

According to Engadget measures around 74 x 76 x 9 mm, which makes it smaller than the Game Boy Pocket and more portable than the Nintendo Switch and Switch Lite.

Atari VCS

Atari is best known for the Atari 2600 and classic titles like "Pong" was very influential in the 1970s and the 1980s. Since then, the iconic brand has been sold numerous times and struggled through bankruptcy.

But the company has prepared an all-new system called the Atari VCS. The design is very much like Atari, with long idents along the top of the console and a faux walnut finish. The company also has a retro joystick to match the console. You can play classics such as "Asteroids", "Breakout" and "Centipede".

Intellivision Amico

Tommy Tallario, a veteran in the industry that has developed over 300 games, is making a new Intellivision system. The Amico is a simple console, it comes with two controllers that have discs, four shoulder buttons, a small touchscreen and everything needed for basic motion controls.

The console will come with six games and a bunch of downloadable extras that cost between $2.99 and $9.99, including a sequel to the "Earthworm Jim" performers.

Switch Pro

Nintendo never confirmed the existence of the console, but Switch Pro has been rumored for months now. According to Bloomberg, Nintendo was planning to launch an upgraded Switch in 2021.

Unnamed sources stated that Nintendo has considered a more powerful model that can support 4K visuals. It could also replace the standard Switch. There is still no guarantee that a Switch Pro will happen but Nintendo has performed very well despite the coronavirus pandemic so releasing Switch Pro can help them maintain their momentum.
