In 2020, Bose released a couple of new sets of true-wireless earbuds, they are the QuietComfort Earbuds and the Sports Earbuds, both of which have a noise-isolating design where the ear tips perfectly nestles inside your ears and sealing out ambient sound.

On January 5, 2021, Bose launched its new Sport Open Earbuds, which feature an open design without a top, so it just sits on top of your ear.

They are now available for preorder for $2020 and they are scheduled for release on January 21, 2021. They will only be available in the United States, so there will be no international pricing available yet, but if to be converted, the earbuds will cost around £150 or AU$260.

Bose stated that the new earbuds are the first to have OpenAudio technology. This is the same technology that Bose uses in its $250 Frames audio sunglasses, according to The Gadget Flow.

The Frames are great but not nearly as good as noise-isolating earbuds or full-size headphones. The company stated that the unique approach produces clearer, more consistent sound, without the vibrating sensation bone conduction is known for.

Because of the open design of the earbuds, it is possible that the Sport Open Earbuds may be a bit lacking in the bass department. Just like the Bose Frames, they will appeal to bikers and runners who do not want anything covering their ears for safety reasons. They will likely also appeal to those who do not like the feeling of having an ear tip jammed inside their ear.

The Bose Frames Tempo employ 22mm drivers. Meanwhile, the Sport Open Earbuds have 16mm drivers. You will probably get some sound leakage at higher volumes. This means that people will be able to hear your music if they are standing near you. With that said, with Bose Frames you can keep the sound at more moderate volume levels and the sound leakage is minimal.

The earbuds are splash-resistant and the battery life is rated at up to 9 hours at 50% volume. The earbuds also come with a charging dock and a protective carrying case, but they do not seem to charge in the case according to those who bought it, as the case does not support a battery inside.

Also, there are two microphones on the right earbud that you can use to make calls. Bose says that the advanced microphone system is made to focus only on your voice and to reduce the sound of wind and other noise around you. The Bose Frames are very good for making calls, so they can work with a headset too.

Where to buy the Bose headphones?

All of the Bose earbuds can be purchase on the official site of Bose. Major retailers also carry Bose earbuds. Some of the retailers that you would need to check are Amazon, eBay, Walmart, Target and Best Buy, according to Gadgets Now.

Be careful of purchasing from third-party retailers because they usually cost a lot more. Make sure that you only purchase the earbuds from legit resellers and major retailers because they come with a warranty and they offer the right market price.
