During its scheduled CES 2021 presentation on Jan. 12, Nvidia unveiled GeForce RTX 3060, a cheaper GPU, but it will have 10x the ray-tracing capability and double the power of GTX 1060, which is highly popular in Steam since it was launched in 2016.

The company also noted that 90% of GeForce gamers still do not have an RTX GPU and continue using GTX chips, although its 60-class chips are currently the most popular.

According to ZDNet, Nvidia Product Management Director Justin Walker said that graphics cards have been completely exceptional. "I would expect to see that they're going to be a bit hard to come by, but are making them as quickly as we can," said Walker as reported by ZDNet  He added that the chips will be rolled out globally.

Meanwhile, the 30-series RTX 3060 supports resizable BAR, which lets the CPU to allow all GPU memory on compatible motherboards at once. It also provides Reflex support reducing input lag as well as broadcast support to include AI enhancements to video conferencing, video and audio feeds.

The studio laptops with RTX 30 series will have twice the performance of previous generation enabling video editors to speed up their work while reducing the encoding time by 75%.

Nvidia also announced it was launching the laptop version of its RTX 3060, 3070, and 3080 that will be included in more than 70 laptop models. The RTX 3060 promises to deliver 90fps and 1080p ultra settings. It is said to outperform the former GeForce RTX 2080 chipsets found in laptops that cost around $2,500 while the new chip will be included in devices with starting price of $1,000.

The RTX 3070 can handle 90fps with 1440p ultra settings and is said to 50% faster than RTX 2070. It will be included in devices priced more than $1,300. Meanwhile, RTX 3080 will have ultra settings in 1440p delivering over 100fps and will be found in $2,000 laptops.

These devices will include Dynamic Boost 2.0 allowing AI to balance and control the power between the GPU, CPU, and GPU memory. It also bears WhisperMode 2.0 to let users have the CPU, GPU, thermal envelope, and fan speeds that are AI-controlled as well as select an acoustic level.

Nvidia will be released the RTX 3070 and 3080 later in January while the $330 RTX 3060 will arrive later in February. Meanwhile, we will begin to see the RTX 30 series on laptops from Alienware, Acer, Gigabyte, Asus, Lenovo, HP, Razer, and MSI on January 26 while Razer Gigabyte, Asus, and MSI will be creating studio laptops.

Nvidia representatives said they are making GPUs as fast as possible to ensure the market demands are met to prevent issue with chips supply. "We make more and more than we've ever made before, and launched with more than we've ever launched with before, and they still are very hard for folks to come by, and of course that's super frustrating for people," Nvidia representative noted, according to ZDNet.
