The game "Path of Exile" is launching its newest expansion called "Echoes of the Atlas" on January 15 at 11 AM Pacific Time. The free-to-play MMO has gathered a stable and loyal player base since it first launched, despite the game's humble origins.

Path of Exile expands once again

In 2020, fans of the game saw the addition of the Heist expansion, which considerably changed the circumstances of the video game. The expansion brought a focus on stealth and infiltration to the typically brutal game, which then takes inspiration from the "Diablo" series.

The well-received Heist expansion has prompted the post-launch support from developer Grinding Gear Games, who has had a major expansion in their plans for a while now.

The new content was meant to release in December 2020, but Grinding Gear Games delayed the content release in order to avoid conflict with CD Projekt Red's "Cyberpunk 2077."

This turned out to be a much better decision than the company predicted as "Cyberpunk 2077" is to go down in infamy as one of the biggest video game controversies in recent years.

"Cyberpunk 2077" has been deemed unplayable on numerous platforms and CDPR is still working to fix all of the issues for its fans. Grinding Gear Games was able to dodge a bullet by delaying the release of their content and waited for the controversy to die down a bit before releasing their product.

New game contents

Now that Cyberpunk 2077 has blew over, Grinding Gear Games is finally ready to release its expansion of "Path of Exile." The new expansion is releasing on January 15, 2021 for PC and Mac, and for Xbox and PlayStation consoles they will receive it on January 20, 2021.

The developer has promised a considerable amount of end-game content in the new expansion, including 11 newly created maps, each with bosses that players need to take down.

Players can also invest in brand new skill trees while playing and build their strength in order to challenge the Maven, an intimidating new Pinnacle boss who won't confront the players until they have gone toe to toe with numerous bosses at the same time.

Also, aside from the new content, Grinding Gear Games is also introducing a new Ritual Challenge League and rebalancing nineteen Ascendancy classes. Players can look forward to the return of Harvest leagues and Heist leagues too.

Fans of action RPGs should be happy at this content drop, which revitalizes "Path of Exile" in a massive way. It is a good month for fans of the genre as well as "Diablo 3" is currently holding is Darkening of Tristram event that is held every year. In 2021, it will mark a special anniversary celebration that pays homage to the roots of the series.

The event also features dated, pixelated graphics to accurately simulate the first "Diablo" game. Fans of the game franchise who are feeling nostalgic can take part of the said event, while the players who are aiming to get experience something new can turn to "Echoes of the Atlas."
