Speculations suggested that TSMC might be working on a 7nm automotive-grade process. On the other hand, they claimed that Samsung is developing the Exynos Auto V9 SoC on its 8nm process.

What is a C1 chip?

Rumors explained that the new C1 chip could have a close resemblance to the design of the A12 Bionic processor. On A12 Bionic's case, the chip is already fabricated with a similar 7nm process and is said to be manufactured by TSMC.

Meanwhile, the upcoming Apple electric vehicle is allegedly featuring LiDAR technology. The innovation could add a lot of depth to onboard AI functions.

\Ming-Chi Kuo, a popular Apple analyst, said that the launch of the Apple Car could not happen until 2025 or 2027. Why? Because Apple Car's specifications are not yet completed.
He added that the production timeframe could be in 2028 or even the following years. The well-known Apple analyst also claimed that there are three main reasons why the production could take longer than expected.

These include uncertainty around Apple's competitiveness in the EV in self-driving car and EV market, uncertainty about the supplier and vehicle specs, and uncertainty about the launch timing.

KIA Motors to produce Apple Car?

Aside from the AI eye-tracking feature and C1 chip, speculations also claimed that the upcoming Apple Car is linked to KIA Motors. MacRumors reported that Hyundai is planning to hand the production to the KIA Motors plant in the United States, Georgia.

Rumors stated that Hyundai Group has internally arranged that Kia Motors is in charge of Apple's production project. The discussion could have happened on Tuesday, Jan. 19. This means that it is more likely that Apple's very first EV could be manufactured by KIA Motors.
