Facebook Technologies, LLC's innovation is currently a great feature since it can enhance people's online messaging experience, especially during the ongoing pandemic, where users are commonly staying indoors to avoid getting infected with new strains of COVID-19.

According to Tech Radar's latest report, Oculus Quest 2's v5 software update offers Facebook Messenger. Even the base Oculus Quest version also supports the popular messaging app.

The great thing about the new update is it allows you to message even the users who don't own an Oculus device. Additionally, rumors claimed that users can also communicate with their friends' Messenger mobile apps during sessions of games such as "Racket Fury" and "Beat Saber."

"Starting this week, we will begin rolling out Messenger on Oculus to people who have logged into Quest and Quest 2 using their Facebook account," said Oculus via its official blog post.

"With this update, you can choose to chat with your Facebook friends anywhere they have Messenger, even if they're not in VR," the developer added.

On the other hand, Facebook Technolobies, LLC confirmed that users can send private Oculus Party invites via the messaging app. This new feature will make it easier for you to transfer from one multiplayer game to another since the process will be quicker.

How to use the new feature

Using the new feature is pretty simple. All you need to do is to write in the VR platform, see the voice-to-text feature, or use pre-written conversation starters.

Facebook Technologies said that the innovation shows that their VR service is not all about gaming. It is also about wider interactions within and around virtual experiences. Aside from Facebook Messenger app support, the VR gadget's update also includes App Lab, which allows developers to share their latest innovations or other in-progress projects with the Oculus community.
