According to Game Rant's latest report, the new updates will include some mechanics changes and fixes that are expected to arrive this February.

Kotaku Australia also confirmed that the new map will come from "Halo Online," which is a free-to-play game that was developed by Saber Interactive way back in 2015 that was previously canceled. "Halo Online" also has a modified version of the current "Halo 3." This means that the new map would be a great addition to the popular shooting game.

What the new map looks like?

If you already see the leaked screenshots, the new map of "Halo 3" looks like a human military base3 located in some icy glaciers. However, the new map doesn't quite match any of the maps that appeared in the shuttered game.

It also doesn't have any resemblance to the previous canceled maps that were supposed to be added to the canceled "Halo Online" before it was shutdown. But, one of the things that suggest it is from the previous "Halo Online" is the name it was given.

A blog revealed the screenshots stated the name "Waterfall," which is also the name of the icy concept art of the previous canceled map of "Halo Online."

"Named s3d_waterfall in the MS30 build, little is known of this map. Several released pieces of concept art with the name "waterfall" in their filenames have been released and likely correspond to this map, shown below. The map will be implemented into the "Halo 3" component of "Halo: The Master Chief Collection" in Season 6," the leaker stated on the original blog.

Although there is no confirmation yet what will the new map feature, the thought itself is pretty exciting. It is enough to grab the attention of the fans during the ongoing pandemic.

'Halo 3' other changes

Aside from the new map, "Halo 3" is also expected to have some updates that will improve the fans' experience. 343 Industries confirmed that players who own Xbox Series and Xbox Series S will receive a bunch of fixes. The game's developer stated that the mouse and keyboard support, as well as the view slider field, are expected to be added to the mentioned gaming gadgets.
