While the recent global pandemic has caused devastating losses and disrupted everyone's lives, there have been some positives that have stemmed from the forced changes we have all had to make. Due to the many nationwide lockdowns going on around the world, many people have started working remotely and exercising at home. If you are one of those who the exercise bug has bitten, you might be wondering how you can maximize your workout results, here are a few ideas and concepts on this topic.

Do You Focus On Recovery?

For those just getting started, this may not be an issue but the following well-known concept, "stress plus recovery equals adaption" is fundamental to maximizing your results. This is usually something that more experienced and competitive individuals get wrong, but sometimes even beginners come out sprinting only to be injured, fall ill, or become turned off working out. As stated by the experts at Health Constitution, anyone who exercises can benefit from applying this concept to their exercise schedules. Your workout is the "stress" element of the equation. No matter how much you work out, if you are not eating correctly, sleeping well and enough, stretching and resting, then your body is not going to adapt. Further, if you do not emphasize recovery, you are more likely to get injured or fall sick and then be unable to workout, which further reduces your workout results. There are a lot of different tools and activities out there, like ice baths and massage guns, that boost recovery. The best thing you can do is educate yourself on recovery.

Concentrate On Long Term Results

A common theme is for people to become motivated and inspired to start working out, only to work out so intensely that their body is shocked. They then are so sore that they don't work out for a few days, or they might even quick. Instead of working out intensely twice or three times a week, consider the compounding effects of working out at a moderate intensity five to six times a week. Over a year, you can work out double the amount. However, this is only effective if you are disciplined, workout too intensely and you may get injured, sick, or burnout. Workout too mildly and you won't push yourself enough to adapt.

Concentrate On Long Term Results

Why Are You Working Out?

This is something we all often forget to consider. However, if you are wanting to maximize your results, this is the most important question to ask yourself. Is your goal to lose weight? Are you trying to improve endurance? Gain muscle? This question has to be answered so that you can measure your results and plan your schedule and workouts with purpose. When you are planning your workout ask yourself, is this going to make me better at your chosen activity/skill? Is this form of exercise going to bring me closer to my goal?

Hopefully, you now have a few ideas on how to maximize your workouts without getting exhausted or injured. Remember to focus on the long term, on your recovery, and identify your goals to give yourself some direction.
