It's reportedly a big day for Spotify, aside from just recently boasting its huge library of quality content and even a roster of different artists on its particular platform, it has also announced new features like the upcoming Spotify HiFi lossless streaming.

Another feature, however, that didn't really get the spotlight is currently being limitedly tested for a few couple of months but is just now getting an actual formal name.

Spotify Clips 'Storyline'

According to the story by SlashGear, Spotify Clips is currently rolling out for artists and just like everyone else, it's actually taken a page directly out of Snapchat's book.

Although it has already been a couple of years since Snapchat had first introduced the actual concept of Stories to the whole world, some other social networks are still copying it up to this day.

Twitter's recent Fleets is one example and is hardly the last one since the feature is already pretty popular on a number of different social media platforms.

Spotify now joins that group with its officially named "Spotify Clips." The reported feature has actually already been in testing ever since some time last year. The feature has been put under the name "storyline."

Storyline testing face for limited artists

The Storyline testing phase was reportedly limited to just a number of big names coming from the music industry. This included certain personalities such as J Lo and even Kelly clarkson

Even with this reportedly wider rollout, the new Spotify Clips still remains a supposed exclusive tool for different artists.

Just like with any of the other Stories-like feature, the new Spotify Clips still involves collecting a number of different short videos on playlists that are reportedly meant to share the celebrity's "intimate moments" with their fans.

Since it has clearly become more of a marketing tool, it would be no surprise that this feature is already being made available to just artists.

Spotify HiFi plus promotion

Whether that would change some time in the future remains to be unseen and would still depend on whether or not it actually resonates along with Spotify's reported user base. Spotify has also reportedly announced yet another tool to spice up their current playlists along with new eye-catching visuals.

Canvas can reportedly add some looping videos, for example, while using Marquee would then give a "full-screen, sponsored recommendation" in order to advertise certain new releases.

Spotify has also publicly revealed that there are already over 76,000 artists that have had their playlists added to the official Spotify app for the very first time just last year.

An article by The Verge tackles how Spotify is rolling out the Spotify HiFi as an add-on to its current Spotify Premium allowing users to consume content in HD. It also promotes CD-quality as well as lossless audio which should be a plus for those really attentively listening to their music on Spotify.
