In what seems to be a strange case, a 105-year-old woman said that she managed to survive COVID-19 through eating raisins soaked in gin.

Surviving pandemic was not new anymore to the woman, as she also got through another pandemic before coronavirus, the Spanish Flu which wiped out one-third of the world's population from 1918 to 1920.

How Did the Old Woman Survive COVID-19 Through Gin-Soaked Raisins?

In a report by Fox News, Lucia DeClerk, a native of New Jersey said that prayers really worked especially when she was a COVID-19 positive patient. The oldest patient who was confined at the Mystic Meadows Rehab and Nursing Center added that she avoids eating junk food as much as possible, but she has a secret to share about her survival.

DeClerk stated that she soaked raisins in the gin. A jar-full of the beverage is all she needs which she will keep for nine days. She added that she specifically eats nine raisins after the preservation and their taste is similar to candies.

In an interview by the New York Times, the administrator said that DeClerk was reportedly tested positive for COVID-19 after she received her second Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine.

At the time of detection, the old woman underwent isolation for two weeks until she exhibited few symptoms of the virus. After that, she was able to wear again her favorite sunglasses with a knit hat in her room.

People were wondering how DeClerk pulled through the horrific virus that could also kill a younger individual with a weak immune system. The case of this New Jersey woman set it apart from others, as many said that DeClerk has a strong body to combat her condition, despite her age.

Besides her secret gin raisins formula, DeClerk has been relying on her healthy lifestyle through consuming natural aloe vera juice. Moreover, she also applies baking soda when brushing her teeth, so that leaves a fact that she loves living as naturally as possible.

One of DeClerk's grandchildren, Shawn Laws O'Neil, said that they are always wondering about their grandmother's actions. They suspected that she was crazy, only to find out that their speculations were all debunked!

DeClerk Outlived Her Three Husbands

The old woman is truly a survivor of two pandemics. According to CBS, DeClerk used to live in Hawaii when she was only two years old. At the time, the Spanish flu started but fortunately, she was still living up to the moment.

The centenarian has also managed to outlive her three husbands and the death of her one son. It was an unfortunate fate to lose several loved ones, but DeClerk has been thankful that she was still breathing and living to the fullest.

Another Solution to Prevent COVID-19

In a report by Glamour, Dr. Kathleen Jordan, the senior vice president of Tia Women's Health Clinics, said that applying dual layers of facemask is also applicable to prevent the further spread of COVID-19.

Jordan continued that a single disposable and washable mask seems to give the user more comfortability, than using two similar masks.
