iMac 2021 Refurbished With Colorful Designs

Tom's Guide reports that the iMac 2021 iteration is going retro with its design, extending the color options seen in the iPad Air 2020. The upcoming device will sport in black, white, green, blue, and rose gold colors.

And judging by new 3D renders of the line-up, the iMac is rumored to look more vibrant than before as Apple is switching over to Apple Silicon and will shake up its entire line-up of designs with the newfound freedoms ditching Intel.

Creativebloq also reports that the new iMac will feature slimmer bezels and a thinner overall body, similar to Apple's Pro Display XDR. Besides that, there are some shared renders. However, it suggests that the iMac's back could be completely different.

The most obvious thing to note about the pastel hues is that they are lifted straight from the 2020 iPad Air. But as many fans have pointed out, the colorful iMac 2021 could also serve as a nostalgic throwback to the very first iMac release in 1998, back when Apple's aesthetic was more fun than the metallic silver-grey design featured in modern times.

iMacs Unavailable on Apple Store

There is reason to believe that Apple's iMac line-up will have a new design this year. iMore reports that the 21.5-inch desktop has been unavailable when choosing a configuration with either a 512GB or a 1TB SSD hard drive. All other configurations, however, remain available to customers.

They have reason to believe that the lack of iMac storage is most likely due to a component shortage as opposed to Apple cutting down inventory ahead of a new iMac release. Take note that Apple usually extends shipping times rather than making a configuration unavailable altogether.

Jon Prosser, everyone's favorite Apple leaker, states that the Cupertino-based company's decision to make the iMac unavailable for ordering is quite rare. The company always pushes estimated dates in cases of component shortage or stock drawdowns ahead of updates.

With that said, Prosser believes that the iMac will have new designs this year with the same color schemes as Apple's 1998 Mac desktop line-up. However, Prosser states that these are only prototype machines, and there are no certainties that the company will follow through with these design plans. If iPad colors have been proven popular, then Apple may want to capitalize on that success.

There is still no precise date when Apple might release a new iMac 2021 iteration or will they truly commit to these colorful designs. In addition, the company is also planning on making new versions of the Mac Pro, Mac Mini, and Macbook Pro.
