Xiaomi continues to thrive in China as the telecommunications company has taken off covers from a new handset called the Xiaomi Mi 10S.

The Xiaomi Mi 10S looks a lot like the Xiaomi Mi 10 Ultra, but the Mi 10S includes the Snapdragon 870 chipset, and it borrows the other specifications from the Mi 10 5G handset that was launched back in February 2020. It costs around $506 or 3,299 Yuan.

Measuring around 162.6 x 74.8 x 8.96mm and weighing 208 grams, the Xiaomi Mi 10S has a 6.67-inch AMOLED display with curved edges and a punch-hole design placed at the upper-left corner, according to GSMArena.

The screen has a Full HD+ resolution of 1080 x 2340 pixels, a 90Hz refresh rate, 180Hz touch sampling rate, 5000000:1 contrast ratio, 1120nits brightness, and 100% DCI-P3 color gamut. The screen is protected by Gorilla Glass 5 panel.

The Snapdragon 870 mobile platform powers the phone with up to 12 GB of LPDDR5 RAM. The phone also offers users up to 256 GB of UFS 3.0 storage, according to NewsPostTalk.

The 4,780mAh battery of the phone can support up to 33W wired fast charging, meaning the phone will be fully charged in just 56 minutes. It also supports 30W wireless charging and 10W wireless reverse charging. It is also equipped with vapor chamber liquid cooling technology for heat dissipation.

It's also reported that the device will also be equipped with a 20-megapixel selfie camera. The back panel of the phone has a camera housing, which looks the same as the one available on the Mi 10 Ultra.

The vertically ranged camera module has 108-megapixel primary camera with OIS support and f/1.69 aperture, a 13-megapixel ultrawide lens with a 123-degree FOV, a 2-megapixel depth of field lens and a 2-megapixel macro lens. The phone supports 8K video shooting at 30fps.

The Xiaomi Mi 10S comes with a preinstalled MIUI 12, an operating system based on the Android 11 operating system.

The phone also offers other features like dual SIM support, in-screen fingerprint scanner, Wi-Fi 6, 5G support, Bluetooth 5.1 support, IR blaster, dual-frequency GPS, NFC, USB-C, and X-axis linear motor.

As for the audiophiles, the Xiaomi Mi 10S features Harman Kardon tuned dual linear stereo speakers that can offer a 360-degree surround sound experience. Xiaomi also proudly claims that the device has recorded 80 points in the audio benchmarks of DxOMark.

Xiaomi Mi 10S price and availability

The phone's variants such as 8 GB RAM + 128 GB storage costs around $506 or 3,299 Y, the 8 GB RAM + 256 GB storage costs around $537 or 3,499 Yuan and 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB storage costs around $583 or 3,799 Yuan. The phone is available in blue, black and white.

The phone is now up for pre-orders and its first sale is scheduled to take place in China on Mar. 12, according to GizmoChina.

Customers who pre-order Xiaomi Mi 10S will get a 30W wireless charger, just like other benefits of buying early. There is no update yet on whether or not the phone will be available globally.
