Performance test on Radeon RX 6700 XT

TechRadar says that the Radeon RX 6700 XT might not beat the mid-range Nvidia, with leaks showing that the GPU fails to match RTX3060 Ti.

The RX 6700 XT is the incoming premium graphics card from AMD pricing under $500. The graphics card will be available by March 18, boasting a GPU of AMD Navi 22 and 12GB GDDR6 worth of memory. It is an affordable alternative for buying the amazing RDNA 2 architecture.

According to wccftech, RX 6700 might have slower performance due to the cut-down GPU configuration. Radeon makes up for this by boosting the memory size to a 1080p and 1440 gaming solution. The core configuration of the new RX 6700 XT might feature a total of 2560 cores.

Leaker @TUM_APISAK makes a comparative analysis on two Geekbench 5 entries on AMD RX 6700, tested to run in a system with AMD Ryzen 3700X CPU and 32GB RAM clocked at 3000MHz. The following are the result scores from the Geekbench 5 testing system.

Vulcan tests result in 55,278 points for RX 6700 XT, which is lower than the Nvidia RTX 3060 at 95,906 points. This gives Nvidia's GPU a 73% performance advantage. RX 6700 performs better at OpenCL, scoring 102,831 points but remains inferior to RTX 3060Ti, scoring 120,619 points.

In theory, Nvidia will continue to beat AMD Radeon RX 6700 with Nvidia's DLSS technology. The Deep Learning Super Sampling (DLSS) uses artificial intelligence technology to selectively upscale games, helping them appear at a higher resolution. It also allows PCs with a compatible GPU equipped to turn on Ray Tracing and achieve steady framerates of 60FPS and above even when playing demanding graphical settings.

AMD Radeon RX 6700 XT is pitched to a difficult battle with DLSS remaining exclusive to Nvidia cards. However, the rumored incoming AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution might offer some solutions.

These results should take into consideration that the tests were run on pre-released drivers. Perhaps the officially released Radeon RX 6700 XT would perform better than expectations.

AMD Radeon RX 6700 release date

AMD Radeon stands by its reputation to be one of the best graphic cards available in the market. They have higher visual quality, creating better impact performance, and balances the level of display detail with its software integration. These last few years, Radeon continues to deliver the ultimate gaming experience for users.

Previous leaks and online discussions in the community have supported AMD Radeon RX 6700 XT and might continue to do so in the future. Despite leaked performance results, there is a high demand on the market for this GPU. TechRadar says that the graphics card supply might be short, despite AMD's promise to release more stock of the RX 6700 XT more than the previous 6000 series.

AMD Radeon RX 6700 will be available in the market on March 18, 2021, at $479.
