The annual Mobile World Congress hosts some of the world's largest communications companies, with many unveiling their latest phones and wearables gadgets like foldable screens and the introduction of the 5G wireless networks.

The Beijing technology giant started as a smartphone company, evolving its products to consumer electronic tech and accessories such as tablets, earphones, televisions, air purifiers, and electric scooters. The smartphone company is known for being an international icon, where its products are known and used globally, and has recently revealed that it would be making a transition to the electric vehicle industry. BEIJING, CHINA - MAY 15: (CHINA OUT) Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun speaks during a product launch on May 15, 2014 in Beijing, China. Privately owned Chinese electronics company Xiaomi has lauched its first tablet and low-price 4K TV on Thursday. The newly launched "Mi Pad" is looking to shake up the tablet market to rival Apple's iPad mini with a new low-price slate set.

According to Electrek, the Xiaomi Electric vehicles would have the same marketing and appeal to the public, as it is aimed at the general public and affordability much like its current lineup of consumer tech. Additionally, the initial rumors of the venture already have the company designing the electric vehicles as early as now.

One of the most popular electric vehicle companies, Tesla, is also aiming at the budget and affordable electric vehicle for all branding, which would be a massive competitor of Xiaomi once it releases. Moreover, the Chinese company would have more competition by the time it releases by 2023, due to the arrival of more brands in the scene.

Despite this, Xiaomi is still rumored to debut their EV and would focus its attention and release it to the mainland, where it would probably debut the electric car once production is completed. Right now, there are no announcements or confirmation from either Xiaomi or Great Wall Motors regarding the partnership for EV manufacturing.
