Despite the heels on CD Projekt Red's "Cyberpunk 2077" patch, the company has still outlined its roadmap for the whole open-world game. The bad news is that it is actually "reconsidering" its ultimate plan to launch a new "Cyberpunk 2077" multiplayer mode as its upcoming AAA release.

The Polish studio behind "Cyberpunk 2077" is now focusing on bringing an online connection into "all of its franchises" some time one day. The company's CEO, Adam Kicinski, detailed the upcoming "long-term" approach towards multiplayer in a brand new video published by the gaming company.

The CEO even added that they do not want to go overboard or ultimately lose the whole single-player DNA.

It was also noted that they want to take some really thoughtful steps in order to build their robust online capabilities.

CD Projekt Red statements on studio's plans

According to the story by Engadget, the studio now seems to be prioritizing an upcoming all-inclusive online framework, over the typical individual spin-off, that might be able to attract a whole legion of fans through its official GoG store.

Kicinski noted that they are building a whole online technology that could be integrated seamlessly into the total development of their future games.

Furthermore, Kicinski noted that the technology will be providing power to the online components that they would choose to introduce in their games. The CEO also ensured that they can do so even without incurring great technology debt.

With the said technology in place, the company says they can start to grow a whole online community that is powered by their already existing GOG Galaxy platform that would connect gamers both outside and inside of their games.

CD Projekt Red hopes for the future

CD Projekt Red has already touted the whole "Cyberpunk 2077" for a long time as a huge standalone product. That then conjured certain images of kicking it online along with their pals in the game's whole sprawling Night City metropolitan.

The fact, however, is that the single player games are still very much popular and the last thing that the studio should want is yet another botched launch.

Just this year, the company focused on releasing even more fixes and patches in a bid to get the game right back on the official PlayStation store along with Sony's approval. It is now also working on free DLCs, the paid expansions, and even the next-gen update that is slated for the second half of 2021.

The company announced that it had actually signed a letter of intent for the studio to take over Digital Scapes, which is a Canadian developer, that had worked along with "Cyberpunk 2077."

It also noted that its group strategy would then pursue more acquisitions. The studio's much broader plans now include an ambitious target to actually be included as one of the top three video game makers in the entire world.
